Driving after c-section

I was 5 weeks pp and My health visitor said if I can sit in the car with my seatbelt on and slam my foot down as if it’s an emergency stop, without my incision hurting then I’m fine to drive x

As I don’t have my doctors appointment until week 7

My GP absolutely refuses to see me earlier. I called my insurance company. They said they make a note of it but I’m to call when I feel I’m better. No need for GP sign off as they don’t have any policies on it. Every company is different.

I drove after 3 weeks. I contacted my car insurance and they said I didn't need to tell them and just to use common sense. If I didn't feel ready not to drive but I felt fine.

Check with your insurance company, I checked with mine and they wanted me to wait the 6 weeks

It’s like any major surgery. When you are capable. My partner goes back to work Monday, I can walk my daughter to school but I do need to start driving before 6 weeks. Don’t forget all calls are recorded as well so if they say it’s fine without a doctors approval then you should be fine x

Just check your policy documents etc, some don’t require doctor’s note. Mine didn’t.

Check your insurance documents and what it says about surgery/medical procedures. I was driving 4 weeks after my c-section. By that point I wasn’t taking any pain relief that could have made me drowsy and I was confident that I could do an emergency stop if need be.

I didn’t even know that was a thing 🙈

I didn’t get signed off, I just started after 6 weeks x

I spoke to Admiral just incase anyone else is with them, they don’t require you to notify them of any medical issues unless it affects your license through the DVLA
