Hi everyone,
I’m asking all mamas, when/how did you know your baby had autism? Were there any signs you noticed? And how early did you catch them? I’m concerned my baby might have it but I also wanted to know if I’m over reacting. They’re 11 months. Thank you!

I didn't "know" until I got the diagnosis, but I suspected as early as 6 months. I work with children with autism so I must admit I was probably searching for things more than most parents typically would. I found videos of parents with kids that were 3 and over and tried to find commonalities of their early markers. Also, any journal articles. One thing that was noted was laughing out loud, believe it or not. My son didn't meet that marker at 6 months. Then, it was a lack of babbling, and by 12 months, he was not consistently responding to his name. At the 1 year appt. the doc agreed that we needed to dig further and gave me a referral for a hearing test location.
I wish I could go back and tried to have embrace every moment for what it was rather than a clue as to whether or not he had autism, but unfortunately, I'm just not built that way. I wish you all the best on your journey
