Anyone have any good words for when your little one gets hurt or hurts someone else?
I can’t use boo boo, cause that’s the nickname I use for my son hahha
I don’t like ouchie or owie, because I feel like that is like “baby talk” and I want him to use and learn actual words
But saying hurt or pain or words like bonk/bump or bruise and cut. Seem like they might be too much for my 18 month old to grasp.
Am I just making life more complicated than it needs to be hahaha. Cause my mind does just go straight to “Owie” whenever I talk to him 🤷🏻♀️

I taught her the sign, it's just pointing and touching your index fingers together. Seems to register that she's hurting me pretty well

I started with “ouchie” but have been transitioning to “hurt” or describing what happened “you bumped your head” “you hit your knee” etc. and I think she is slowly starting to associate meaning to these words.

We started with saying owie, but she now she says “hurt” on her own. But she lets me kiss her owies so we still use it in that context. Anytime she hits her head she says “bonk” so I don’t think it’s too early to learn! She only learned that because I would subconsciously say it every time she bonked her head, which is often haha.

We just say ouch

I think using the correct word for stuff is ok. Eventually they will associate the word with the action.

I’m trying to teach bo ba for hurt lol
