Virgin Atlantic bassinet

I have booked a bassinet for my 8 month baby on an upcoming virgin Atlantic flight. Can anyone tell me what these are like? I plan to bring my LO sleeping bag but do I need a blanket or something to lay underneath her or is the bassinet comfy enough without

I would bring a blanket. They are not the comfiest but not the worst. If your baby is like mine and prefers to sleep on their tummy I’d recommend also trying to see if they would sleep on you (if they don’t settle in the bassinet) . I learnt the hard way on a 9 hour flight after trying to put her to sleep in the bassinet

The bassinets are made of leather and don't look comfy at all - kind of like an old style dentist chair rather than a cot. Defo bring a blanket or some padding. We got away with our LO sleeping in one at 3 months, but never after that. Also, be warned that virgin do not guarantee the bassinet seats as they are first come first served. So if you want to be really sure you get one then check in early

The bassinet is not like the usual straight mattress ones, it’s a curved leather bassinet with seatbelts. We travelled with our 6month old and he wasn’t the most comfortable in it. And a heads up- if you are on an overnight flight, you will need to unbuckle and pick your baby if there is any turbulence.
