Hi. I don’t know what to do, but u have been gaining weight while I’m breastfeeding and watching what I eat, ever since I had my baby last year. I was 185 pounds when I gave birth, and I’m now 205! I cannot keep going like this, and need help. This is my 3rd baby, but my first c section, so I’m not sure if that has played a role too. I’ve talked to different doctors, but nobody is really helping, just telling me to cut carbs, which I am already doing! I’m told all my blood work is normal, except that my A1c blood sugar levels are borderline diabetic, but that those are not alarming yet. Has anyone been in a similar situation, and has had a great change? Please write if you have any idea how I can normalize my body back to normal.

Hiya x sometimes our bodies decide to hold onto extra calories to make sure our babies always have a meal! It can be frustrating for mums where we don't feel ourselves. X

Hi! I’m sorry you’re struggling with feeling like yourself.
Definitely don’t cut all carbs, carbs turn into fuel that the body desperately needs and getting rid of all carbs can signal to your body to store fat. Also if you haven’t resumed your period, a lot of the weight in our mid section is estrogen related and that can cause a fat deposit to sit there until the hormones regulate themselves again. My suggestion would be to do low intensity exercise like walking, increase water intake, choose healthy carbs, limit processed sugar, and try to focus on getting good sleep when you can

That happened to me too when I started I think just cut out bad fattie foods like bread or sugars and try non dairy products I used to be 194 and now I’m 170 because before I’d make lots of things with bread and even with cereal it isn’t a good source of nutrition unless it’s completely whole grain just my experience everyone’s body reacts differently especially because our bodies cater to our babies needs I wish you the best 🫶🏾

Yes, this happened to me. I didn’t gain much during pregnancy and lost a good amount after birth but gained a lot with breastfeeding. Might have been a different situation because my milk production was so low and for 4+ months, I was trying everything including diets like increasing calories. Once I stopped breastfeeding, I slowly dropped weight and now I’m back to my pre-pregnancy weight. For me, the weight gain would have been worth having breastmilk but it wasn’t in the cards for us. I do think a lot of it is hormone related and just takes time ❤️ it’s hard though
