Hospital clothing for C section?

on tuesday i schedule my c section for the following week. I know what i am wearing to the hospital, but im trying to think what should i wear the day I go home? or while i am there. because it could be 2/3 days that i am there? i dont recall what i wore when i had my son almost 9 years ago because it was an emergency and it was fast and traumatic. can someone give me a suggestion?

i bought one of those postpartum belly bands for wearing on top of some comfy clothes like i’m just going to bring some sweatpants and a tshirt that i can put the belly band over

i was considering wearing my comfy loose amazon dress home. because it’s easy to breastfeed in and very comfortable. i also have a night gown that has a button up top that is high waisted and very comfortable. so i was considering those too options.

I loved these night gowns from target

yes that’s the one i have in black.

I just wore my nightie for bed as was comfortable and high waist lounge sets

Make sure it’s something high waisted as you probably won’t want anything touching your incision! But I just wore maternity biker shorts & a t shirt. I think croc slides I had brought to the hospital lol

I just wore hospital gowns whilst there and then went home in dressing gown of my own I belive.
I spent the ten days after my c section just in pants and dressing gown.electric blanket works wonders too

I wore a gown while at the hospital and some leggings that gave a little compression to go home. Be prepared for lots of leg swelling and bring compression socks if you can.

I just brought night gowns and men’s boxers.

I wore adult diapers and night gowns from Walmart!😭😭

Avatar

any particular adult or overnight high waisted diapers referable? i’m trying to think what’s the best solution for at home care. since monday thru friday once im released i will be alone with my daughter for 12/13 hours out the day while recovering.

Avatar

also everyone?? how long should i anticipate not being able to drive nor do stairs?

Avatar

I did stairs like right when I got home after day 3. I was cleared to drive at my 2 week appointment. I hated adult diapers on my incision. Made it itch. The cotton boxers helped keep it dry. No need for adult diapers imo just use pads in the boxers

Avatar

what type of pads would be the best? i saw a lady online who had high waisted adult diapers i’m curious what kind they were.

Avatar

just heavy flow pads or overnight pads. By the time you’re discharged you don’t need the giant pads anymore and if you do you probably should stay longer in the hospital. All adult diapers are “high waisted” they pull up pretty far. But you gotta think it’s especially plastic you’re wrapping yourself in and can trap moisture. And that can cause infections.

okay thank you for the advice.

To sleep I wore long nightdresses and in the day I wore maternity dresses. It just minimised me having to bend down too much 😅 I also used pull up pads because they were comfy and my belly felt a bit more supported.

I couldn't do the stairs for about a week but then after that I just did small trips up and down the stairs and took it slow. I didn't drive until I was 5 weeks postpartum, but that was because I had some medical issues when I was pregnant that I needed to be careful of x

I bought a cheap breastfeeding friendly dress to go home in, maternity leggings for warmth if needs.
Comfy maternity PJ's for whilst there along with the lovely adult nappies 😆

Avatar

Slippers you can get on without having to bend down, plus loose clothes that are easy to get on and off would be my recommendation 😁☺️

I was in my hospital gown until the next day when my catheter was out and I’d showered. Then I put on comfy lounge wear with easy boob access for breastfeeding. You just want to be comfy.

Going home I wore a maxi T-shirt dress, my compression socks and my trainers.

Avatar

While I was there I just wore nursing nighties/nightgowns (idk what you call them in the us haha) then going home I just wore maternity leggings with a hoody but I think this time I’ll wear a loose fitting dress

Avatar

I didn't bring much....just wore the hospital gown and some sandals(didn't want my bare feet touching the hospital floor haha)...and a loose dress for the way home.

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Hi
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep getting period like cramps I thought these were Brixton hicks but I’ve heard they only last 30 seconds ish as this can go on for a good time frame then go away and come back, they aren’t bad enough where I can’t do basic things they just feel like I’m about to get my period I’m jus wondering how normal this is? Baby is still very actively kicking xx

Homebirth?

I am thinking I want a homebirth (second baby) for a few different reasons but my husband is very against it, he is worried about things going wrong and we are a 30 minute drive from the hospital. Has anyone been in a similar position and what did you end up doing? Any advice? 🙏

Midwife check

Can someone remind me when the midwife visits you at home? Is it the day after you’re discharged? And is that the same on the weekend or do they not visit then? Thanks!
