I had a traumatic delivery experience. Due to multiple health reasons of my baby, me and lack of awareness she was on formula from day 2 in hospital.
I did every possible thing on this earth to breastfeed her and somehow managed to pump milk and combo feed her. However, it didn't last long. My supply dropped drastically after 7 months and at 8 months I weaned her off. She suffered a lot due to formula - we had to change 4 formulas in the first few months to finally get the right one. Her gut was weak and formula just made it worse.
Today whenever I look at other mothers or read about moms BF their babies, I just feel disgusted about myself. She is soon going to be 1 and doing great otherwise but the guilt is killing me day in and out. I beat myself up every day. How to cope with this? Please help š¢

first off, your doing great and you did your best with everything š second DONT compare your experience to other moms, like you said you had some complications at first some moms could have the same or donāt so donāt compare ! your baby is good and fed ! donāt feel guilty or beat yourself over it. you did it for as long as your body allowed you too, you did great and are doing great itās all going to be okay ! š«¶š¼

You DID it for 7-8mons, despite complications and all damn work of pumping, that's Amazing and a frickin SUPERstar Mumma! Pleeease don't beat yourself up or compare to other situations, because they are Ne-ver the same, and remind yourself every day that fed and happy it bestš

Hey I did this to myself for awhile too. Seeing all the BF mommas id feel guilty And honestly my son is a happy and healthy baby he was finished formula by 1. And he is now 18 months old and a healthy eater.
My own health and mental health was a struggle for the first 3-4 weeks after birth. Trying to breast feed was a challenge. We found the right formula for him and it was what was working best for us. Fed is best donāt beat yourself up sounds like youāre doing a great job. ā¤ļø

You did a great job!! It's tough feeling guilty but you just need to remind yourself that you pushed through so hard, 7 months is incredible! Every breastfeeding journey has to come to an end at some point - yours was a bit earlier, but that does not make you a bad mother or less than other moms. It is just what happened. You love your baby, you did your best for them, and that's what counts ā¤ļø

With my first, we had latching issues for the first couple weeks. I felt horrible about it/cried all the time.
Ultimately I came to the conclusion that we can't always live up to our own expectations and sometimes 'best practices' aren't best for us. I took a break from nursing for about a month for my own sanity.
Try not to judge yourself so harshly. You did what was best for your family.

Be proud of yourself! You tried your best and that's all you can do. Formula is fine for babies too, fed is best. Your baby was like many other formula fed babies with that shortage. But never think or feel bad that you didn't give her your all. You are an amazing mom and it sounds like your girl is doing great. Keep up the great work

I only lasted 3 months breastfeeding. Itās not easy. I beat myself up as well. Everyoneās experience is differentš„²š

You can find relief in knowing that this guilt is temporary. I had the opposite, I BF for 27 months, and she didnāt eat solids well just wanted to BF. I didnāt know any better, kept thinking breast is best and kept giving her the boob. My doctor said she was doing fine just petite. With my second, I weaned him and gave him formula and heās a big kid, my daughter is smallest in her class. I have massive regrets about this. I wish she was bigger.

Goodness you are a brutal critic. I think you need a reality check.
Your daughter is doing great, your words. So maybe she had a rough state, but that's really that not uncommon. You pushed through. You stepped up. You made difficult decisions to give your daughter what she needed. That is something to be proud of.
Maybe take some time to think about why you feel guilty. Generally, that means you are assigning blame. In your case, it's likely unwarranted. I would compare it to having your daughter in a car accident. Sure, IF you knew it was going to happen, you wouldn't have put her in the car. But you didn't. You didn't know. You made the best decisions you could with the information you had.
I'm going to challenge you. You tell me, it can be in dm, what you did wrong. We aren't talking what you could have done differently. I mean actually and clearly wrong. Because from what you shared, there is nothing I would think anyone would be different.
