West Suffolk or The Rosie?

I’m 20/25 mins away from The West Suffolk Hospital and about 40/45 mins away from The Rosie. I can’t quite make my mind up regarding what hospital to give birth at. Has anyone been in the same boat? Or have any helpful information/experiences they could share? Thank you!

I went for the Rosie if that helps.

A lot of my friends chose the Rosie due to being one of the best maternity hospitals and top NICU.

I must say I can't fault them, they been amazing! I get all my results same day and I also had HG through my pregnancy and they check in all the time.

I also having a c section; and they been so good and informative.

I was torn between the Rosie and West Suffolk with my first. We were under the recurrent miscarriages clinic at the Rosie and couldn’t fault them so I was really tempted to go there but it’s 45/50mins from us and longer if the traffic is bad. I can be at West Suffolk in 25mins. In the end I think we made the right choice with West Suffolk as I’ve had consultant lead pregnancies so lots of hospital appointments and scans and much quicker and easier going to Bury. I have no real complaints about my birth experience there with my daughter and I’m due baby number 2 in 5 weeks who will also be born there x

I had a great experience at the Rosie birth centre, but I am slightly closer to the Rosie so that helped the decision

West Suffolk we’re amazing with me. I had a bit of a difficult time and they made me feel so safe. I chose West Suffolk because it’s closer to home for me.

I used to live in Haverhill so I could choose which hospital.
West Suffolk everytime, I’ve had 2 of my babies there and they are amazing.

I’m between west Suffolk and Ipswich and I chose west Suffolk. I find the hospital more pleasant and easier to navigate.
I’ve had stays in both addenbrookes and WSH, granted not for maternity reasons, and I found that addenbrookes is great for expert medicine and WSH is great for bedside manner and service/care while staying. I’ve had friends deliver at WSH and say great things

Thank you so much everyone! This is really helpful, seems like we’re lucky to have a couple of great options.

I’m at WS and so far they’ve been fab, and it’s also only 25m down the road from me x

I’m at the Rosie and they have been great so far! I’ve also been hospitalised and addenbrookes and they quite literally saved my life so for me in addition to having some great reviews it was a no brainer. The Rosie is 30 mins from me however and my closest hospital so also a big factor!

Day out after c section

Hey,
I had an emergency c section 1 week ago I obviously don't want a day out right now but I have things booked for the Easter holidays so in 2 weeks. I was just wondering if I will be overdoing it if I have a day out then or will I be ok? I would still take it as easy as I could. When did everyone feel good enough to go out?

Period like cramps

Hi
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep getting period like cramps I thought these were Brixton hicks but I’ve heard they only last 30 seconds ish as this can go on for a good time frame then go away and come back, they aren’t bad enough where I can’t do basic things they just feel like I’m about to get my period I’m jus wondering how normal this is? Baby is still very actively kicking xx

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Midwife check

Can someone remind me when the midwife visits you at home? Is it the day after you’re discharged? And is that the same on the weekend or do they not visit then? Thanks!
