Again, for those that didn't circumcise baby... at how many months did you start pulling baby's skin back to clean it? How did you know how far back to pull and/or if it was time for medical help? It's so tiny, and I don't know how it's supposed to look. 🙈

Normally the skin starts to retract age 3-5 years. If you had any questions I would go to a gp or doctor to see if it time to start bathing beneath the skin

My sons 3 and I’ve never needed to do that

Don't pull it back
Most foreskins don't retract until age 5, but some don't until age 10+
I'd leave it, let them do so when they're older x

'Nope nope absolutely not' was the actual words I said reading this post haha, it doesn't need pulling back. It is attached/the skin fused together until it naturally retracts. You can gently clean it but pulling it back before it's ready can cause alot of pain and risk of infection - there is very little risk of infection left intact as the skin creates that barrier as long as the area is kept clean.

You don’t pull it back ever my dr told me there’s no need for that until they hit puberty then you just teach them how to clean it properly

It does scare me that mothers may be pulling their sons foreskin back to attempt to clean xx totally unnecessary and this should be common sense imo. Maybe this is why some do have discomfort if parents are doing that
Great feedback, ladies!! Thank you so much!! I know it might seem common sense, but as a mother with a first born and never having had a penis myself, I really didn't know. I also didn't want me son to be one of those scary stories of infection and emergency surgery. Thank you!
His pediatrician actually told me to pull it back and that if it didn't "pop" he would give me a cream to help it do so. I'm not going to bring this up to him again lol

No I wasn’t trying to be rude however I feel maybe I was a little insensitive there. It clearly needs to be taught doesn’t it & you have done the right thing by asking and not just doing. So I apologise I should not of judged. xxx
I appreciate it, @Amber . I usually don't ask for help and was hesitant to post. At the same time, I am just in a stressful life situation, I shouldn't have taken it like that and really appreciate your and the other mommas' feedback. Thank you for your apology. ❤️🩵❤️🩵 Accepted 🙏🏽🙏🏽💕

I actually had to be told by family members who had boys, my mother only had girls and it’s something you never think about before having a boy! Glad you’re not listening to your paediatrician

It terrified me too Amber, but we're in the UK where circumcision is very rare and not is the standard.
I assume OP is in USA where circumcision is common practice but it's still baffling that a medical "professional" doesn't know not to pull it back so it's no wonder Americans think keeping intact is more of a risk of infection than circumcising if that's what they're doing.

You should never pull on the foreskin. Check out your whole baby in Facebook.
