20 month old not talking

All kids are different, mine only says a few words too and she is 18-19months.
I don’t know if your house hold is bilingual, but I read kids start speaking later when it is.

I was also a late talker and mostly pointed to things.

sign language and animal sounds also count :) do you guys watch ms rachel? even if you want to let your child actively watch, you could always incorporate some of the stuff she does to help

My son is still only saying a few words. He’s been in speech therapy since 18 months but still doesn’t talk. We aren’t too concerned yet, some kids just talk late!

My son is 20 month old and not saying a lot of words. We signed up with early steps on the recommendations of the pediatrician to help encourage him. I think we’re up to five words, but he is mimicking and very verbal. Some kids just move a little slower when it comes to certain developmental milestones might be a little bit too early to know, but can’t hurt to have the pediatrician, follow up

My boy is 20 minths aswell and not talking he says mama dada and sounds but that is it

Mine doesn’t say anything Intelligible but talks a lot!
He just last week started shouting DA! For daddy. He knows maybe 7-10 signs.
My pediatrician put in a referral for speech. I haven’t heard anything. I think I am supposed to call them 🤷‍♀️

I think our ped told us after 18 months they should be able to say two words sentence. Thats basically how they would track milestone. I agree there could be late talkers but you might want to see if your child needs some help to talk. Just check with your ped if they could provide any suggestion of how to help them talk :)

yes! We watch Ms Rachel. I think that’s where she learned the majority of her signs and me teaching her more

yes mine babbles a lot and very loudly lol

My daughter talks with her mouth closed most of the time. It’s cute but also drives me crazy. In a span of two weeks her vocabulary grew from 6 words she could say to 17.
It’s like out of nowhere she just started trying to actually mimic what you ask her to.
