Sore nipples

I’m exclusively pumping but my nipples are really sore / cracked. I’m using the right flange size, not using a high settling, expressing every 3-4 hours and sanitising between each use. Any ideas why I could be in pain?

Are you lubricating your flanges?

Avatar

no! What do you use to lubricate?

I use some organic coconut oil which works well ☺️

Have a look into silver nipple cups, a drop of Breastmilk in each and put them on your nipples and they help loads.
Also make sure you’re not pumping for too long or on a setting that’s too high.
Wash bra regularly and make sure breast pads are being changed often (to avoid thrush which can cause nipple pain)
Lube your flanges and get a second opinion on sizing as they can vary.
Speak to a lactation consultant if you can
Use a nipple cream or something to soothe

If it’s really bad you might go to a dermatologist because turns out I had eczema on my nipples 😭 I thought it was thrush but it wasn’t

Thank you! Would any organic coconut oil do, or is there a specific brand? Would some get into the milk? Could nipple cream work?

Avatar

Cooking oil worked for me 😂 much better than nipple cream

what pump are you using? I have had no soreness with my Soectra but the Momcozy wearables I did and also the Medela Symphony.

I used some nipple balm to lubricate the pump! That helped a bit. Also silver cups between pumps

Nipple butter works wonders for me. Also using silverettes between pump sessions helps (use one or the other).

I use this - https://www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/vita-coco-coconut-oil-60028206?skuid=013036&utm_campaign=shopping&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD96OoKVgB4Z8Z1jXXatbhXr8kB8h&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIuLbnkpO9hgMVfZZQBh3GZxHjEAQYAyABEgKKePD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

I wouldn’t use lanolin based nipple balm as it’s too sticky. You can use olive or sunflower oil too but I prefer the one I’ve linked as it’s in a little pot and easy to transport like that

thank you! Is it easy to clean off the pump? I am finding the nipple cream to be quite sticky indeed!

Avatar

yeah it comes off easily with hot soapy water 😊

Leaky nappy help

What nappies are you using to stop leaks?? We use pampers ultra dry size 5, and for the past few nights he has lashed through and we’ve had to completely change him during the night. Last night he leashed through twice!! He sleeps on his front and stays leaks through at the top of his leg where the tabs connect. Didn’t know whether to size up, he has a bit of a belly on him but he’s smack in middle of weight guidance so shouldn’t need too

Am I wrong?

I’ve been wanting to add more garden beds to my garden. Husband says “hey do you want to go to Home Depot to get that wood for the garden beds.” Cool I’m excited I’ve been wanting to get this done for awhile.

We get there and we’re picking out wood and I make 2 comments about how I don’t like how 2 pieces of wood look that he picked out. And he says if you’re going to be this picky then u can do this yourself.

I literally made 2 comments and mind you I’m the one paying for the wood.

I felt dismissed and like my opinion didn’t matter and if I wanted to have an opinion then I need to do it myself. Like what?

It was rude and not okay. Am I wrong? Am I overreacting?

He thinks it was fine that he said that.

New born

Finally had my baby girl via C-section on the 18th, everything has been so far. But I’ve noticed she’s very fussy and cries a lot. I’ve been trying to exclusively breastfeed. The lactation consultant at the hospital said I did look like I’m making enough milk for her. She was latching on good at the hospital and now here at home, she doesn’t seem to want to latch at all. She’s been crying a lot and very fussy. I’m just wondering is she’s colic or like maybe she just doesn’t want the breast anymore?

6 month old autistism

My 6 month old makes no eye contact with me and doesn’t respond when I call him. Can this just be a phase or personality trait as apposed to autism
