We will be traveling in a couple weeks with our one year old. We did get her a seat but I am debating on whether or not to bring the car seat on the plane or just having her sit in her own seat/on our laps. She tolerates the car seat for short drives but by no means loves it… any one have person experience with this?

Depending how long the plane ride is. Having her sit in her own seat or be held would give her alittle more stimulation rather than sitting in a car seat but if shes restless and fussy, it may be hectic for you. With the car seat, shell be alittle more restrained and you could give toys and stuff while shes staying still but after sometime in the car seat, she will be needing a good stretch

thank you for the advice! Do they have to be buckled into the car seat if they’re sitting in it? Or just during take off and landing

No! I bucked my son while he was in the car seat in case of turbulence. Is not mandatory

We just flew for the first time last week. I held her. Our first flight luckily enough was early so she slept through it. All the other flights she was pretty well behaved. We flew American and they had movies and thing like that for the free WiFi to keep you occupied just make sure you have headphones. Lots of snacks were helpful and a couple toys too. We checked our car seat but didn’t make it on our connecting flight which was unlucky but they delivered it the next day. I think it’s really what will make you more comfortable tbh.

A lot of variables!! How long the flight is, at what time it is, and how easily distracted your baby is.
Any less than 3-4 hours i would say is safe to lap! Most likely they’ll take a nap and if not is not that much time to entertain.
4-9 hours depends on the time of day and your baby’s schedule
