My 20 month old got down from the sofa this afternoon and started limping. She had then limped this evening and after sitting she is reluctant to put weight on her right leg. We have moved each leg/ankle/hip and she doesn’t react in pain or say no etc (she’s usually very vocal). She’s been standing/kneeling/climbing/crawling without any discomfort but has tried crawling rather than walking. When she attempts to walk, she leans on objects to help, she will then walk after a bit but this is still with a limp. She had previously been running like a crazy person in a shop up and down for about 15 mins earlier in the day and has been walking normally all morning. I wanted to go to A&E but my husband and parents both say to see how she is in the morning and she’s probably just strained herself somewhere. There’s no swellings/marks etc. Anyone else had similar or any advice? First time mum probably over thinking, but can’t help it as she’s usually soooo independent.

Please go to a&e now. They always say to rush to the hospital if the child is limpy and floppy. No harm in getting her checked.

Hey did you manage to get her checked x

Hi, so she woke up absolutely fine , then around tea time when was tired, she limped a little bit again but then has been absolutely gone today again. I have a physio friend who said to give it 48 hours as might have strained herself from all the running she did. Keeping close eye on her every move and tried to not let her do anything too crazy but that’s extremely hard 😂. I am still on the edge though, from worrying etc. I’m ringing the docs still first thing . Thank you for all of your help and just for listening! Xx

Just an update, so we got checked out, it turned out to be a viral infection that had caused an irritable hip. Just had to keep our eye on it and had another check up a few days later to double check legs/hips etc. I haven’t ever heard of such thing but it’s apparently very common, especially in toddlers xx
