Hi everyone, my baby is exclusively breastfed and normally he wakes every 3 hours to feed.
We are on night 2 of me putting him in a swaddle bag as he kept waking himself up with his startle reflex. However, tonight he’s just slept 5 hours straight?! Is this normal? He’s not eaten for 5.5 hours which is very unlike him.
I’ve just woken him to change his nappy and feed him. Just concerned/confused as I’ve had 5 hours of unbroken sleep since before he was born!! (He is 4 weeks old) x

My baby did that the other night she didn’t feed for 7 hours and stayed asleep the whole night I was so confused but I asked my health visitor and she said it’s normal so I wouldn’t be too worried maybe he was just tired, he would of woke up if he was hungry ☺️x

thank you glad it’s not just me worrying 😂 put him back in his crib now and he’s fast asleep again haha! Think I’ll go take advantage of this and catch up on some more sleep. I feel like a new woman after having 5 hours unbroken! X

Yea it’s normal, just enjoy! Mine normally does one stretch of longer sleep and the rest are waking every 2-3 hours

My 4 week old just did 5 hours for the first time too. Enjoy!

My 7weeks today lil boy did 7 hours last night and 6 the night before last. If they are past their birth weight, it’s ok to allow them to sleep through and wake on their own for food. Enjoy your sleep mummy x

Normal, no need to wake him.

My 6 week olds record is 4 hours. My boobs are so sore by that point anyways so I feel we are aligned for the moment

My 7 week old did 8pm-5am the other night but on a normal night does 8pm-2:30/3am and has been since 3 weeks old. Get the sleep whilst you can! If they’re above birth weight it’s ok to leave them. I also don’t change her nappy at night, if she’s uncomfortable she’ll let me know but never has 😊 my 2 year old has religiously slept 7-7 every night since 3 months old

If we are breastfeeding and if the baby continues to sleep, don’t we have to still wake up to pump the milk, and if we keep skipping it won’t the supply reduce?

it will reduce in alignment with their needs. I personally don’t and never did with my son who was EBF until 1yo.

Normally my girl goes to bed at 10pm, wakes up between 2 and 4, then wakes up at 6.30am. The night before last, my little girl slept from 10pm through to 6am then fed and slept until 9. If they’re hungry they’ll definitely wake up.
Last night she woke up at 1am, 4am and 5.30am 😂 x

Oh yessss enjoy! My April baby did the same last night! My son slept through for the first time at three months old so I am hoping she is the same 😍😍

My baby boy is 6 weeks old and slept 7 hours straight last night even though he’s bottle fed he’s always woken up for a feed, my midwife’s always said as long as the baby weighs over the amount they were born it’s perfectly fine to miss a feed if they’re sleeping x

Thank you everyone! It seems it was a one off as he’s not done it since 😂😂 xxx
