My boy is 7 months, we start BLW for a week already, but he hate sitting on the highchair, just keep pushing the tray, He start grab and smashing food, but refused to put in the mouth, it like I torturing him, but he did eat the purees when I spoon feed, but the purees is mix with formula milk
Any trick to encourage his eating ?
I also wonder what time is best, how far from his milk time is best to serve the food or what kind of food is best for starter?

Few things to consider.
1. If formula fed an hour after milk is usually best as it gives enough time to digest. If breastfed 30 minutes is fine as they digest faster.
2. If he's fussy in the morning try lunch instead or whatever seems like a better time. Too close to nap can also make them just too cranky and not want to work on eating.
3. Make the high chair fun! Before we ever did solids I let my baby sit with toys and her cutlery to play with. And even now as a toddler we use it for coloring and sticker time so she has a positive association with the chair and not just for food.
And 4. It's a lot to go from purees where you're being spoon fed and it's pretty passive to being in charge of eating food yourself. He's doing a lot of what he needs to by playing and making a mess. It's truly the first step in self feeding. It may seem like you're backsliding but it's just the next step on his eating journey. Milk is still so important to their diet that it's absolutely fine for them to not eat much or at all.

Some babies prefer puréed food. Maybe you can continue offering the solid foods but if purées is what he likes, let him have it.

My boy is 9 months and he hates food. I didn’t start with blw but we have moved from puree to mashed foods now slightly bigger chunks. We start with porridge at 12pm then lunch at 3 and dinner/snack at 6. He has his milk at 7 and it’s bedtime. They say no distraction but if I’m feeding him, I prefer the telly on and people are going to hate on me but that’s what works for my baby x

We started BLW at 6 months my baby was not interested until around 8 months. Some children just take longer than others
