Jealousy

Hey just kinda want to rant. So my son is the first grandchild and great grandchild in my husbands family. Because of the boundaries i set with my husbands mom wanting to call her girlfriend of 2 years at the time grandma for my son. I told her that she will not be recognized as his grandmother, same as my husbands father’s girlfriend won’t be called grandma. I don’t know if these people will be permanent in my son’s life, so i rather keep biology at biology and prevent my son from
losing a “grandma”.
They didn’t like what i had to say, or that fact that i will raise my children religiously. Never once did i say we’d disrespect anyone, but they took it as disrespect. I was then told lots of shit by my sister in law and her mothers girlfriends daughter. I was told i was brainwashing my husband into my views, i was shat on for my religion, and called many things. After this they stopped talking to me, and we invited them to my son’s baptism but they lied they would be on vacation so they wouldn’t show up.

my sister in law is now pregnant and she only invited my husband and my son because she doesn’t want to be anywhere near me. I’ve seen her in public and have just been completely ignored, even when i was with my son.

my husbands mom doesn’t even want to refer to me by name

well now i’m jealous that my sister in laws baby will get more love and attention than my children, mind you im pregnant with our second child
and not once has his mother or sister checked up on me or the baby. Only congratulating my husband for being a father.

i’m sad and mad and i have so many emotions
but what affects me more is that my children won’t get that kind of love from my husbands family
because of his mother
and or myself.

i just don’t know what to feel anymore

Maybe they don’t know if you’ll be permanent in your husbands life and want to keep biology at biology.

the difference is i’m married, they aren’t, both his mother and father have been with many people in their life, i’ve only every been with my husband, we’ve been together for 5 years and now 2 kids in, and even if they wanted to keep it at biology that doesn’t change the fact that it’s my husbands kids, and i’m their mother so there for biologically speaking
i’ll always be apart of that family.
unlike people that aren’t married, having been together for nearly as long, won’t have any kids with each other, and have a history of being in many relationships…….

But not everyone believes that marriage equals family, just because your religion tells you marriage is superior doesn’t mean that’s what everyone thinks. Plenty of marriages aren’t as strong as just a regular relationship. That being said they’re your kids you don’t have to let them call anyone grandma but if you’re out casting people they consider family you can’t get upset when they do the same to you.

religion doesn’t tell me that marriage is superior, but even the law says marriage is superior. yes relationships can last sometimes longer than some people marriages but it’s way easier to get out of a relationship than it is to get out of a marriage.
i’m not related to them biologically, but i’m the reason why her son kids. meanwhile
my husband doesn’t even call her girlfriend mother, and she has done nothing to earn her title as a grandmother. maybe if they were married i’d have more trust that they wouldn’t hurt my children but simply breaking up.

and it’s completely normal to see someone unmarried as not family as to when they are married

but honestly i don’t care how they see me… zits the fact that they don’t want to be involved with my children because of how they view me that bothers me.

that’s why’s not right personally

All I’m saying is I can absolutely see their side. At the end of the day marriage is a piece of paper aside from now your money is involved and to essentially tell that mans family they aren’t family enough because of marriage I’m sure is insulting to them. And maybe the way they’re handling it isn’t the best but you putting yourself above them because you had his kids or are married isn’t very fair. He could divorce you and have kids with someone else and you’d no longer be a part of that family. That happens all the time.

Avatar

I understand. It’s like some people who get divorced wouldn’t want the other parent gf/bf to be called mom or dad cause they don’t know if they will be around long. Your feeling are justifiable but so are theirs. Your kids may not get that attention but do you really want that toxic type of people around your kids? I am not religious and already think they are being to much and over thinking things and using your religion not talk to you. Personally I wouldn’t want that attitude near my kids. I wouldn’t let my kids call my my mother in law gf, if she had one idk I don’t ask lol , grandma either. Gf does not equal she will stay there forever now it’s different if they were together for 10 years . At that point I consider them common law marriage and will give them the title of grandma or whatever appropriate name they wish to be called. My mom wants to be called Leeta l

this is what my husband says about his own family and what my family tells me too, it’s just hard because i want my children to know both sides of the family, but being hated on for my religion and my boundaries just because i don’t want my child to call a woman my husband and i barely know and has only been in their grandmothers life for 3/4 years grandma
is crazy to me. i don’t want that toxic negativity in my life or my children’s life but idk it’s hard to take away the feels of wanting a bond for my children with her

Resentment and placing blame on partner

Firstly, please don’t judge me - I’m aware all my thoughts aren’t rational and I do already feel badly about them

I’m finding myself becoming easily frustrated, annoyed, and placing a lot of blame on my partner for many things. Now I’d get it if he was rubbish but he’s not - he has the baby straight away when he gets home from work, he lets me get ready and shower before he goes to work, he pitches in with the chores and gives me any time I ask for off. He doesn’t go out loads either.

I do a lot of the mental labour - realising we need more of and purchasing clothes, milk, groceries, deciding dinner, cooking, cleaning, thinking about what baby needs, etc.

However I just find myself annoyed and blaming him for so many things I find difficult. I know this isn’t fair, but it’s almost like I’m angry that he’s finding it easy and I’m not. Angry if I’ve just got the baby to sleep and he doesn’t think and closes doors to loudly. Angry when he doesn’t dress baby warm enough, or when he puts him in a car seat with a coat on. When he forgets a blanket or doesn’t wash his hands and plays with him. When hes snoring and I’ve just got the baby to drift off.

We have had many conversations and he has tried to take loads off me but it never feels like enough for me to stop being annoyed with him.

Am I experiencing some sort of post partum mental health issues? I find myself upset and crying a lot. any advice would help.

Nursery lunches?

My daughter is nearly 10 months old and starting nursery next month. I want to send my daughter in with lunches so I know shes eating healthy meals but I'm honestly so lost as to what to put in her little bento lunch box that will keep till lunch time and doesnt need reheating. Ive been doing loads of baby led weaning at home, but I tend to make it fresh or pull stuff from the freezer I've previously made and defrost and reheat.
Could you show me some of the lunches you've been giving your baby? Or have you been been letting the nursery deal with the food?

Parenting 24/7 is harder than going to work full time?

I’m having a debate with my partner as he’s done nothing to help since. Our 14 month old was born, I’ve done it all alone all day and all night. He gets a break when he comes in from work all night I never get a break
He try’s to tell me it’s harder going to work full time 5 days a week than parenting ALONE 24/7?
What do you think

Partner is giving me the silent treatment

So I was struggling with my postpartum anxiety bad yesterday. My partner and I was out for drinks with family. He kept making jokes about treating me a bit shit.
Which no one thought was funny. I am usually quite patient about him using me as his jokes, but yesterday it hurt.

When we got home I told him it made me feel disrespected. Now he is giving me the cold fat shoulder?! What do I do ?

FTM

Hello,
FTM here. At what age do you stop applying cream on nappy area during nappy changes? My 2 year old boy isn’t toilet ready yet but uses both nappy pants/pull ups and regular diapers

I live in a small 2 bedroom flat. How do I keep my home smelling nice?

Especially bedroom considering dirty laundry lives in there too. I do laundry once a week because I don’t use enough to do more frequent.
But I just want my room smelling nice and cosy.

The more natural the method the better ladies 😣
I open windows everyday. I don’t get enough sunlight for plants 😭
