Hey everyone,
5 days postpartum and incredibly sore down below. Had to have an episiotomy as well as ventouse intervention and I feel swollen, bruised, battered, broken. Its painful to sit, stand, walk, bend down and is making caring for a newborn ten times harder. My partner is a Godsend thankfully and I'm taking it easy as much as possible but its very hard to deal with and I'm wondering how long recovery will be.. ;( Is this all totally normal!? I dread going to the loo too..
Thanks 🤍

Sorry you're struggling. I had small but deep, 2nd degree tear, with very quick labour. Would recommend Expert Midwife sprits for bits and Frida witchazel foam (to add to your pad) - both even better if you put in the fridge before use.
Did you get a pamphlet from the Physio on hospital? I received one and found it really helpful regarding using the loo and how to handle bowl movements in particular. If not, maybe request a visit with a Physio x

Perineal bottle for after toilet use along with toilet wipes for dabbing, ice pack pads, witch hazel wipes on a pad were very refreshing, and lots of ibruprofen and paracetamol x

Lansinoh post birth cold relief pads that go in the freezer were a life saver for me
It will get better! It’s definitely hardest for the first week/ 2 weeks
Ask midwife to check your stitches too at your appointments.
I hope you feel better soon xx

I am loving the frida mom ice pads! But I've also bought a reusable lansinoh one for when I run out of the pack

A doughnut to sit on so it realises pressure xx

I was crippled when we left the hospital after 2 days (episiotomy, 2nd degree tear with forceps and a UTI from the catheter) and found everything so difficult (especially going to the toilet) but I’m 11 days postpartum now and am so, so much better! You’ll get there lady!

Highly recommend Frida mom postpartum recovery kit & Spritz for Bitz. Perineal bottles are a life saver for going to the loo. I had pain for a few weeks when I had my daughter.

Have a salt bath & fully air dry for half hour or so. Make sure you air as much as you can through the day too.
Lots of hydration and eating properly with fibre.
I was PETRIFIED for go to the toilet but it really wasn’t as bad as id worked myself up for it to be 😂 just take a long time and be super gentle, dont force anything x
