Long story short, our little girl (10 months) hasn't slept in her cot for about a month and a half now. We thought at first it was her teeth, but now we think it could just be clinginess/comfort. We are in desperate need of help! When she wakes, we bring her downstairs, and she will sleep through the night downstairs on the floor with us (on sofa cushions). We never intentionally wanted to co sleep but seem to have fallen into it. How do we get her to sleep in her cot? Every time she wakes up in her cot, she wakes screaming and crying. It takes her so long to go back down but then instantly wakes again. She's never really slept through the night in her cot, but we can't keep sleeping downstairs as it's killing us and our marriage. Please please please can we have some advice! It's gotten so bad that we are looking into a sleep coach as we have no idea what to do. Please don't come at me with the cry it out method it's not an option. We've tried reassuring her we are there, but it doesn't have an effect unless she's picked up. We are honestly walking zombies it's so hard mentally and physically.

Have you considered a floor bed? X

@Rebecca Would that not be the same issue though putting her down? I've looked into them before but never really went much further x

I got my LO a baby hammock and it works wonders! He is breastfed so we cosleep after his first stretch of sleep but until then he sleeps quite comfortably. Maybe you can invest in one of those.. it makes them feel held and a little swing motion is like rocking them to sleep!

With a floor bed you could snuggle with her and then sneak off when she’s asleep.
I’m not sure how safe sofa cushions would be - could she get trapped between the cushions?
Have you tried making her sheets smell of you for comfort? (Wear under a jumper for a day!)

This sounds like separation anxiety which is normal for the development stage.
Would you be able to side car her cot too your bed? If you join UK co sleepers on Facebook there's lots of information about it

It doesn't work, she has to be held if not she starts crying immediately. I honestly don't know what to do, I'm at my wits end. Crying myself to sleep every night! I don't know what else to do
