I don't know what to do because my partner and I haven't been in a good place for this whole pregnancy and I am really struggling to see a future. I'm constantly down and miserable and I just mask it when I'm around work. I've spent all day today just crying. Bad crying too. I absolutely love being pregnant but I am scared I have depression because I just can't seem to focus on the positives at all. Has anyone else felt anything like this or know anyone who has? I just don't know what to do š

*antenatal depression

You can speak to your midwife and get referred to the mental health team- theyāre normally pretty quick at seeing you x

I have developed anxiety during this pregnancy, so I feel you. Self refer yourself to NHS talking therapies, that's what I did, now I'm doing CBT!

I suffered with antenatal depression with my first pregnancy, the second the baby was born it just kinda left me! Stay strong, you'll get through it šŖ xx

Thank you guys. Isn't it a long wait to get seen on the NHS though? Xx

I only waited 2 weeks! I think it depends on your situation, they understand pregnancy is rather time sensitive.

they have a specialist anti/post natal teams so you tend to get seen a lot quicker

@Caroline I am so sorry you are going through feeling the way you are ā¤ļø
I would 100% contact your Midwife or even your GP and ask for a referral to the Perinatal Mental Health Community Team. They are a fantastic resource and will pick you up quickly to support you through what you are going through.
Keep talking, you will get through this x
Ps. I work for MH community services and pregant women are a priority, you will not have to wait long

With my first I had terrible antenatal depression. I started out initially incredibly excited to be pregnant and to have my daughter, but as the weeks went on the depression kicked in. I didnāt love being pregnant, in fact I hated it. I felt constantly upset and panicked. Iād often think Iād made a terrible mistake and wish I could turn back time and not be pregnant. I felt trapped and like I didnāt want the baby but at the same time I was overly anxious something was wrong the whole way through too. Iād pretend to everyone around me I was happy but really I felt sadness, panic, anxiety and dread. Iād totally convinced myself I wouldnāt love the baby when it was born and would likely have post natal depression. I felt immense guilt and shame too. Then, at about 38 weeks it just⦠went. I donāt know why or how but the depression just suddenly vanished. After months upon months of crying daily and feeling horrendous, I suddenly felt fine, normal, happy. My daughter was born 3 weeks later
