Has anyone got any tips on moving baby into their own room? He’s 7 months next week and I keep putting it off. There never feels like a right time. He had a sleep regression, then a cold, now teething and wants cuddles most of the night. Also not sure whether to ditch the dummy before moving to own room? Does it get more difficult to move them the older they get?

We tried it didn’t go well so she came back in our room … following for tips ❤️

Start off with day time naps in own room. My baby is still getting used to it, but will usually sleep on his own until about 4am. Today he has had all his naps on his own and they have been decent so we shall see.

do you have two cots or do you move it between rooms?

@Nina yeah I have a cot set up in his room and a next 2 me in my room.

My problem is he loves a contact nap at the moment for daytime naps. Doesn’t sleep very long if I put him down

@Stephanie my boy used only have 20min naps, but the more active and used to his cot he has got he is sleeping longer.

that’s reassuring thank you

We did the switch when my eldest was around 9 /10months because we moved when he was 8 months. I don’t think it makes a difference when you do it. Just start off with them playing and doing day time naps in there first, so they get used to it. We only just got rid of dummy at 2.5 years. We found it helped him when at nursery etc.

Mine is 7months and am about to start putting my little one in her own room. She loves loves cuddles at night , her mattress came today and cot but am having detachment emotions feeelings xx any advice would be nice xx

I just went for it! I feed to sleep, so she always falls asleep on me then I just put her down - now in her cot instead of next to me. I’ve got a camera - this helps me feel comfortable without having to check on her constantly.
I just started going into her bedroom a lot more so she was familiar with it, talking to her ‘this is where you’re going to sleep now, this is your bed’ etc etc.
Her sleep straight away improved, she’s gone down hill abit recently but has 2 teeth cutting through so hoping she improves again soon 🙂

I had & have the same feelings and my boys love cuddles. our eldest walks himself in to our bed when he wakes in the night and asks for cuddles. So we’re still having the best time. We don’t mind and love the cuddles as we know it won’t last forever. You can still have lovely connection times once they move, it just may look a little different.
There’s also no rush to move them out, it’s a minimum age guidance. So do what’s best for you. x

I used to let mine spend a bit of time in hit cot on his own in his room, mainly with a toy or two. I’d be around but I’d be in and out of the room just to get him used to the space. We’d also spend a lot of time playing in his room, so he could explore it and feel comfortable in it. Then, day time naps in his room and then finally nighttime sleep. He ended up sleeping in his room during the night no problem! I was surprised 😂
