Thoughts on elective Caesarean?

It’s your choice and your midwife shouldn’t push you out of it. I’m having an elective c-section because I had a brain condition as a child which was fixed but I do get a lot of headaches/head rushes so pushing and pressure could make labour very uncomfortable for me. I spoke with my consultant and he said medical issues aside it’s your body and your choice, if you want a c-section then you can have one

Best decision I ever advocated for myself and already booked my one for baby 2 on December 27th.

They cannot talk you out of it or legally deny you under the NICE nhs guidelines anyway

What you need to consider is the fact that it's major abdominal surgery which is not without risks and potential complications. All births will have risks and potential complications and benefits so it's weighing up what is right for you. Personally I would only go for a C-section if needed but I would also opt for a C-section over being induced. Do the research and decide what is best for you!

hi! I had one with my first and want another this time. The midwife, I need to complete a course about BAC before having permission, so I have an “informed choice”. Did you have to take a course?

nope, I just said I wanted one again and my obstetrician straight away booked it in to avoid the Xmas and nye bank holidays. Never had to do any courses x

I will be going to have 3rd c section not out of choice but tbh i don't think I'll have it any other way my first was emergency which wasn't good but 2nd was amazing so hoping for same experience x

Are you planning on having loads of children? I want 6 and was going to elect for a caesarean for my first and his father was massive when he was a baby. My midwife said if you want multiple chi it’s best to attempt natural and save the caesareans for an emergency as it’s to risky to perform more than 2-3 caesareans
