20 weeks, starting to get discomfort while sleeping. I always hear sleeping on your left side is best, anyone find that to help symptoms or health wise ? for years now i’ve only really slept on my right side, still it’s the only side i can be comfortable on. Not sure what’s more important here, my comfort or the benefits from the left side? someone help a girl out or tell me
your experience😭 first baby over here 😅🩷

You'll be fine on your right side ❤️ some people still sleep on their back or stomach and come out with healthy babies lol (not that that's recommended!) I slept on whatever side was comfortable with my first, the benefits of sleeping on your left over right are so small of a difference

Start on your left side, and if you wake on your right, that's ok. The left side offers more blood flow, the bigger you get. If you can start on left for even part of the night better, then only sleeping on your right. You can utilize body pillows or pregnancy pillows. To help the position to be more comfortable.

@LeAynne Left side has a lot of benefits, that's why doctors recommended it. Reduces swelling, varicose veins, risks of still birth, easier for blood to travel from heart to placenta. So it's impairitive to try. In the first trimester doesn't really matter. Second and third, as the uterus expands, sleeping on your right side can increase pressure on your liver and compress your aorta, which supplies nutrients to the placenta. Sleeping on the right only can also increase the risk of preclampcia and low birth rate. You can sleep on your right side just not long periods of time.

This is all good to know! I’m a FTM and struggling to sleep comfortably now as well. I use a pregnancy pillow but still end up moving around. I’ve always been a tosser in my sleep 🥴 I’ll try for the left!
