2 months old... bored ?

I feel like I'm trying to keep my 2 month old entertained and it's never enough! I feel like she's bored and needs more stimulation! We do tummy time, time in her mat, black and white book, I read to her, sing to her, take her outside for long walks so she has time outside until he fresh air. I don't know if it's mum guilt where you feel you're it doing enough! But I find myself thinking I should be talking to her 24/7 to keep her stimulated and I'm naturally not a chatty person so there's times I'm just sat in silence🥲🥲🥲!!!

She's also been really good since birth with sleeping eating and she never cries!! The last few days (1 week since her jabs) she's been so fussy and around 3:30pm getting so over tired that she has a melt down screaming for an hour. But she sleeps often? And she loves bath time her bath time is usually at 7pm and we settle into a routine of reading. Piano music and she feeds at 8pm and sleeps until 1. But since her jabs it seems to of all gone weird. She seems to be wanting a bath earlier and getting upset around it. Instantly settled when she's in the bath though. Any one else experiencing this?

There is a leap at this stage a growth spurt. I recommend downloading an app called wonder weeks. It shows you when to expect baby to be a little more fussy due to their development x

What you're doing sounds perfect. At this age, its also easy to over stimulate, so try not to overdo it and keep an eye out for signs of tiredness. Otherwise, sounds like you're doing everything right, she might just be going through a leap xx

It sounds like you’re doing great mamma!! I don’t think it would be the jabs making a change in her routine. Perhaps she is going through a leap? Keep doing what you’re doing ❤️

we have quiet time where she self soothes in her chair.

On a night for bedtime is quiet piano music to nursery rhyme. Rest of sounds are her chair music every now and then and her play mat that has a wind up nursery song that's just music. That's it other than me talking/singing which isn't often so I don't think she's over stimulated with noise as it's spread out through the day x

Thankyou so much ❤️

just downloaded this! Thankyou x

Just realised the app is a subscription and I'm on maternity leave so can't afford the extra payments going out lol Thankyou though x

Wonder weeks is free!! There is a paid for version but also free version because I use it too, that’s how I know my little one is going through a leap currently xx

Avatar

Yeah I don’t pay for wonder weeks I use the free version :)

Avatar

I wonder if I'm looking g at the wrong one ? Xx

Avatar

What does the app photoook like? X

Avatar

yeah that's what I downloaded and it only gave me option to subscribe with payments? X

Avatar

You can access part of it for free but it's a bit naff without the subscription. Not getting much out of the free version tbh

Avatar

You’re doing amazing!! Sometimes quiet time is needed! how about a class to do something different with her? Sensory or baby massage x

Avatar

baby massage is part out our night routine after her bath,
I suffer badly with anxiety so going to classes is a bit out of my comfort zone to do alone, and the ones I have looked at around here are expensive and any free ones are booked :( xx

Avatar

I also have this for her night routine lol x

Avatar

that’s amazing! No I understand going to classes can be so scary, but it really seems like you’re doing everything you can, don’t be hard on yourself but mom guilt is so normal xx

Avatar

thank-you so much ❤️! It's just hard cause I feel I need to do more xx

Maybe press the x and see if you can access the free version? Now I know how to use it it’s actually really helpful. The app is super clunky though but it gives you games you play with them and signals and skills they should be learning during this period. The signals will tell you they might be clingy, cry more etc and then the skills they will be demonstrating and you can actively see your baby achieving them and you can tick them off on the app and play the games it advises. It also shows you videos of what the baby can see/do from their perspective. I actually enjoy the app but do agree at first it seems useless until you spend time getting to know it properly!

When my little one gets worked up I play different noises like jungle sounds and nature sounds or just music which helps calm him down

Could try the app baby plus it's free and has different ideas on it

I think you're doing too much personally, calm down and relax. At this age, just connecting with them with hugs is good enough despite what's shoved down our throats with tummy time etc... our parents 100% never did half of what we're all currently doing and we are all okay. Just spend time with your little one and enjoy them. Don't stress yourself out too much with keeping them entertained. You're already doing amazingly 👏

Avatar

I’m currently overwhelmed with trying to entertain my 8week old, it is hard but it’s a phase they’ll get out of it soon. Just relax and you’re doing great ❤️👏🏼

Anyone joined any playgroups? I think they are a good idea tbh

Tablet for kids

Alright don’t need any negative Nancy’s telling me not to get my 2yo a tablet so if that’s what your gunna do please don’t participate in my poll.

We’re about to move cross country 3+ day trip and my 2yo and 9m hate the car I’m talking scream their heads off till they are out of their seats. We’ve already changed car seats and it didn’t help so I’d like to at least have one entertained and sit next to baby and try and distract her or put her to sleep. Our new car has tvs but since they are rear faced my 2yo can’t see it.

Debating getting her a tablet or dvd player right now on long car rides I end up giving her my phone because I get so overwhelmed sitting in between both of them screaming and crying.

And yes I do bring different toys I bring snacks I play songs try to distract her other ways but for the sake of not losing my mind on this move I think this is best.

-A very overwhelmed and anxious to move mama 😓

My friend is over from another country but I don't feel like leaving the house

One of my old friend's is visiting where I currently live and we agreed to meet up today but I feel so tired and exhausted from everything that's been going on with me. I feel if I meet her I'm going to end up having another breakdown from the exhaustion which I have been having often. I'm just thinking about how I need to rest to be able to deal with my toddler and go back to work on Monday without feeling like I need another weekend. I'm torn on what to do so I need you guys to help me decide

Struggling

My husband works and does so much for me and my baby girl. However I get annoyed every time he hops on a video game he usually plays for 1-2 hrs if she's still awake and has like 3+hrs of free time once she goes to sleep (i co/contact sleep). The last time I was able to have actual free time was last month when I tried to turn some onesies into shirts for baby girl to sleep in- and I wasn't able to finish them and haven't picked them up since lol. The only free time I get is while she's napping right next to me where I can't move an inch or breathe too deeply or she'll wake up, or when I shower. Crafting used to be my outlet and now if I were ever to tell him that I need to craft I don't even know what I would do or where to start I just sit there and stare.... just losing myself and I'm struggling with it. Does anyone else feel the same way? What do I do?

Weaning

Hello mamas, could I get some advice please with how and what to wean as started this week with my baby but not really what to give and when what time day. Have started with puree vegetables and making them myself and offering it in the evening to my baby but she tends to get irritated and tired and has a few spoonfulls and then gives up and has a meltdown. So I’m questioning myself am I feeding her wrong time of day and what’s best to mix the food with milk or baby rice please.
