My little girl is 14 months old, she isn’t walking yet (she cruises and walks if I’m holding one of her hands), she only babbles and doesn’t purposely say words (she says baba, mama, dada, yaya, and other noises). She can clap and wave but doesn’t point, I’m so worried that she’s behind 😭 just feels like she’s miles behind all the other babies I know. I know you shouldn’t compare but I feel like people notice and judge me. She’s got great fine motor skills, she puts the spikes back into her fine motor hedgehog and puts shapes in shape sorters but I can’t help feeling like she’s behind :(

She sounds perfectly on track! I understand the worry though and when it’s your baby we are constantly overthinking and worrying and wanting the best for them.
Walking is a milestone that can take up to 18 months! Many friends babies have walked around 16 months or just starting to get it. If she’s walking with one of your hands that’s amazing already! She will when she has confident take those steps in her own time.
Talking - mama & dada count as it’s more purposeful than just babbling. Roughly 1 word is a milestone at this age but again more words are more likely by 18 months but also up to 2 would be normal.
Pointing is up to 16-18 months. I was worried about this too and then out of nowhere my girl has started.
They will focus on different things when ready. Role model lots of pointing and using words repeatedly etc. I found books that need a finger to slide or press a button helped.
Shapes in a shape sorter is amazing at this age!

4 months (18 months is a rough milestone for a lot of this) doesn’t feel like a long time but it’s massive in how much a baby will develop and lots of time for her to progress. She is not miles behind at all!
Just keep doing songs and books and talking etc. and it’ll all come. If really worried speak to the heath visitor but they are likely to say give it some time. Lot of great insta accounts on speech development but again none of this should be applied with much pressure at this age. They will get there in their own time.
No one is judging you or her! She sounds perfectly normal. Plus you can’t win - I felt judged today because my girl was walking and someone was like she’s a bit small to be walking and I was worried they thought I was making her do too much even though she insists on walking. Honestly can’t win! But my girl was born a mover - that’s always been her focus. And they do tend to favour either gross motor or fine motor or speech but they will get to them all in time.

Sounds like she is doing really well! There’s only so much they can learn at once! The dates for things are just guides! I bet your girl has some incredible skills that other mamas are still waiting to see!
My boy is in a similar boat, and his elder brother was similar too!

Sounds very similar to my little girl! Everyone's circumstances and lives are different as are kids little personalities so every little one will do things differently n at different times! Your little one is probably miles ahead with fine motor skills than someone elses but when they are grown up nobody asks u what age u started doing these things! I'm sure u r an excellent mum n they will soon figure it all out! X

Exactly the same as my baby! X
thank you so much for this, this has made me feel so much better. I really appreciate this! X
