Velcro baby in the making?

How do I stop my newborn from becoming a Velcro baby? I don’t believe in letting them cry it out, but she won’t let me put her down for naps she immediately wakes up and cries. I contact nap with her everyday she is about to be 8 weeks soon. She will only sleep in her bassinet at night (THANK GOD). Is this the beginning of a Velcro baby?

My baby won't even sleep in the bassinet at night

Honestly.... I don't know if I've ever met a baby that wasn't a velcro baby as a newborn.... It makes getting things done SO hard. Mine is now 11 weeks and it has gotten so much better! We started doing 1 nap a day in his bassinet a few weeks ago and have slowly increased it. Now he takes almost all of his naps in his bassinet! It was ROUGH at first but just takes consistency and lots of patience. He sleeps in a hands up swaddle for his naps and at night.

My baby don’t nap well if is not me wearing him.

My sense is that most babies start out this way. It’s how my girl is too! We’ve started trying to do the first nap of the day in her crib. She’ll only do a few minutes by herself now, but I look at it like a skill we need to build. So we’re “practicing” every day.

I don't think a newborn can be a Velcro baby.. they don't even understand what's going on for the first 3 months, just needs your comfort and warmth bc it's all they know. I let my baby sleep on the bed or snuggle me pillow during the day for naps. I jus transfer her once she is asleep..

In the exact same boat!

Same! Except we just started transitioning out of swaddling one arm at a time and getting him into his crib is so hard!! Currently typing this as I’m on hour 2 of trying to get him into his crib to sleep. If he’s fully swaddled he usually sleeps around 8:30pm and doesn’t wake up until 4am but with one arm out he keeps waking up as I’m setting him down. But he’s starting to move a lot in his crib so I want to start transitioning him out of a swaddle before he fully rolls over in the middle of the night :/

My baby also has longer stretches of sleep when I contact nap with her. I believe that when she gets a bit older she can be a little more independent but for now, enjoy all the contact naps you can while they’re little 🤍

Saaaame! I can’t even get 10 min to make and eat a sandwich… my 7 week old needs my direct attentions when she’s awake, AND in order to sleep 🫠 It’s so draining…. 😮‍💨

Not necessarily the making of a Velcro baby. I coslept with my daughter for naps and at night and was able to eventually feed her to sleep and leave after a few months. By 6 months she was pretty much independent since she could crawl and go where she wanted. I also didn’t mind carrying my baby everywhere though. Gave her more attention than she probably wanted lol

Idk now my son will be though. So far he went from wanting to always be cuddled (he hated being cold) to chilling and babbling his little head off

It’ll b a lot of trial and error there’s really no real answer other than learning your baby keep trying and she’ll adjust some days will be better than most

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Combi feeding advice

Has anyone gone from EBF to combi feeding? Currently do one bottle of EBM per night and they one half formula half breast milk mixed in the day. The other times she still feeds on me. Ideally I want to feed all day via bottle and all night with breast. She’s 7 weeks and takes a bottle well, how long should I leave it before adding another bottle to her daily routine?
