I need all the advice on how to handle the questions from my 3 year old that his daddy is moving out. Newly separated with plans to file divorce. I’ve cried enough tears the past 7 years but I’m feeling the devastation for our son. Planning to co parent still but due to his Daddy’s choices, job and location he had to move to he’s willingly choosing to only have him sat and sun days only for now not over night stays. I just don’t know how to handle answering the “where is Daddy” “is daddy home” “why daddy putting his things in boxes”
Any advice please I’m just trying to avoid traumatizing him although I know we still will no matter what way we decide to handle this I’m sure.

What do you feel is better…. Making it appear like a fun new adventure and including him in helping put things in boxes and how fun it’s going to be to see daddy’s new house or for him to wake up Monday morning to his daddy’s room completely empty and daddy not coming home from work etc. Totally not arguing I just feel like no matter what way we choose it’s wrong

If you can I’d get a therapist that specializes in divorce… also “good inside” pod cast is fabulous for tough kid moments. Sending love and support.

just to clarify a therapist for me or my son. I already planned for myself and would love to do it for my son as well just wasn’t sure with his age how much they’d be able to work with him. He’s great at talking already though
