Cephalic presentation but oblique lie

Please help I’m so confused! My midwife has written in my notes that my baby boy is presenting cephalic which I know is good! But that he’s lying oblique which is bad! How can the two occur at one time? But she said his head was in my pelvis just not yet engaged? Any mummas with this experience or any midwives that can help? Do I need to be worried?!

You don’t need to be worried.

So cephalic presentation basically means that the head is the lowest part (so head down and not breech). Oblique is more the position the baby is lying in. So the ideal position is longitudinal, which means that the body is effectively lying vertically with the head at the opening of (or in) the pelvis. Oblique lie means the baby is kind of diagonal, with the head just to the side of the pelvic inlet.

Hope that all makes sense! You don’t need to worry as there is still loads of time for the baby to shift to a longitudinal position. May well happen naturally but there are loads of yoga videos on YouTube for getting baby into the optimal position. Or if you have a pregnancy ball you can do pelvic tilts and that kind of thing. Might be worth looking at the spinning babies website. I’m sure all will be fine :)

i’m assuming it means baby is on the way to head down and won’t be long, my girl was transverse up until 32 weeks, midewide said she’s on her way to going head down and then i believe, went in at 34 weeks and she was head down which i was surprised about

Day out after c section

Hey,
I had an emergency c section 1 week ago I obviously don't want a day out right now but I have things booked for the Easter holidays so in 2 weeks. I was just wondering if I will be overdoing it if I have a day out then or will I be ok? I would still take it as easy as I could. When did everyone feel good enough to go out?

Period like cramps

Hi
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep getting period like cramps I thought these were Brixton hicks but I’ve heard they only last 30 seconds ish as this can go on for a good time frame then go away and come back, they aren’t bad enough where I can’t do basic things they just feel like I’m about to get my period I’m jus wondering how normal this is? Baby is still very actively kicking xx

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Midwife check

Can someone remind me when the midwife visits you at home? Is it the day after you’re discharged? And is that the same on the weekend or do they not visit then? Thanks!
