My little girl just turned 2 and I’m getting concerned now regarding her speech. I hear other little toddlers chatting away and just makes me nervous.
Anyone else going through the same thing ?

My little girl can say short phases like get down, gerry or daddy etc where are you and lots of individual words. She chatters away but not that you can understand. Is this how your little girl is? Xx

So my little boy turned 2 on the 25th august and this was a huge concern for me! He was saying dada, bye bye, let’s go and hello and that was literally it.. I had friends with kids saying “wow he’s so behind for his age my daughter can do this and this” but then all of a sudden within a week he started saying mama, mum, all done, pop, ball, bubbles, juice, love you, hug, quick quick, please, thank you, slide, bug and much more! It all happens at different times for kids please don’t put too much pressure on things because my little boy was saying all of that at his 2 year review the day before yesterday and they still said he’s slightly under because some of the words weren’t the specific words on the sheet she had like she wanted “faster” instead of quick and “goodbye” instead of bye bye… they have to cross the t’s and dot the i’s. My little boy chunners away but doesn’t use proper sentences or even more than 2 words together. But if you’re super concerned talk to a health visitor ❤️

No like. She can say bye bye really well and waves & knows all the actions to the nursery rhymes but speech she does she strange thing with her tongue. Like la la la - and points and drags me to what she wants xx

My just turned two he hardly speaks he says a few words and that’s it was just been referred to speak to language but it’s like eight like a couple months wait

So I took my little girl to doctors who referred us but they’ve said where we live that they won’t help until she’s 30 mins. So on February I can chase it again xx

My little one just turned 2 and is referred for a speech therapist in a month. Three weeks ago, he was just able to say mum and mama. Yes, that was it. And now he is saying "this", baba (for daddy), tchoo tchoo, ice cream, water, two (his age), bye bye, cuddle, coco for helicopter. Before that he was able to sign around 80 words and to sign some sentences. Even if it's a little more than a month ago, I am very happy to have an appointment that can reassure me whether his speech is normal or not.

My daughters 2 n says a few words my son who's 6 now didn't hardly talk till he started nursery at 3 n half he had speech therapy n can honestly say was a waste of time they will talk when they are ready don't stress about it they usually learn quicker being around others as they pick it up from them n that's what we found now my 2 year old copies words from my eldest or randomly comes out with new words

I feel the same way! It's so hard not to compare them to other children but try to remember that they all follow their own development timeline! The 2 year health visitor questionnaire really doesn't help with parents anxiety. My son's appointment is tomorrow morning and I know they are going to say his communication is delayed because he only says around 30 single words and doesn't say any 2/3 word phrases/sentences yet. But 3 weeks ago he probably only said about 10 words inconsistently so he is doing more and more every day! I'm honestly not worried about him, he'll get there and health visitors just want to tick their boxes.

My Sons just turned 2 and we have more minion talk than words, I catch the odd thing like yeah, ready and daddy but nothing really clear, nursery said they will do more one on one with him but they wasn’t concerned

My son’s 2 and he’s not really talking! Ask your HV to a referral to audiology! My son had glue ear!

My son could say loads of words and then 18 months he stopped talking, making eye contact. My childminder has raised concerns so now waiting for an autism assessment. He seems happy in himself but if he is autistic I’ve been told the earlier you get support the better the outcomes for the child. I’m also waiting for hearing investigations to rule that out and speech therapy and behavioural therapy from SEND whilst we wait for the assessment. Is your child at nursery and have they flagged anything?

Nope they aren’t concerned but she’s starting a new child minder today so we will see what she says. I’m still waiting for the 2yr old form to come through the post but I called health visitor and they weren’t concerned either. Just trying to teach her stuff & getting her to use words instead of pulling me to what she wants xx
