So my daughter is 2 years and 7 months, she has always been very good with words from 10 months she would say âI love youâ she could count up to 10 also, however how communication has never been good and she isnât very social, all of a sudden about a month ago she would still say a few words but the rest sheâs humming a lot!! This is making me soo worried is like she just forgot how to say things over night. She will be 3 years old In January.
She also has a brother (9 month old) she dislikes being near him, she barely acknowledges him. Is so sad because he actually likes to play with her.

Has she had her 2 year development review. If not call your health visitor and book a review
she already had her 2 year old check with the health Vistor, she didnât have much concerns, but I will definitely connect her again

Does she make eye contact with you or your partner? Does she respond to her own name? I guess if youâre concerned about her development you should speak to your local health visitor soon!
yeah does make eye connect, she responds to her name but not all the time sometimes she just ignores me

I think all these could just be normal for her age but only professional can tell us if there is any concerning sign. So definitely speak to your health visitor or GP soon to get another opinion!
will do Thankyou!

Does she go to nursery? Or do you take her to any children centres? As you said she's not very social maybe she needs to interact with more children her age.
I do the health reviews and sometimes children just need to interact with other children as it's good for their development.
If needed an SE ASQ can be done which is more on the social and emotional development of a child.
she has never been to nursery but she will be starting next week, I use to take her to play centres before but we havenât been going that often since I had my son..
but the health Vistor did advise me that I take her nursery, but instead of her using words now she started humming which is strange

could definitely be a regression bc of the baby. itâs very normal for the older siblings to revert back to more baby-like ways. sometimes itâs for attention. sometimes itâs out of defiance. sometimes itâs just a big life change and they need time getting use to it.
itâs probably hard on you for her to not like the baby. and i empathize with that. i think as time goes on and as he gets more mature and is able to play more on her level she will like him more. my daughter and son are only 13m apart. and my daughter didnât want to play with her little brother til he was closer to 15m. he just was not playing how she played. so they would do a lot of parallel play. now that theyâre almost 2 and 3 they now interact A LOT more while playing and will make up little games without me even being involved. but it took time to get to this point.
as big of a change as it is for you to have a baby, itâs a change for her bc she isnât the baby anymore.
if possible, try to make time for just you two
