Nursary tears

This can happen as they realise they are going to be away from you for that time. Nursery should be working with you to help minimise it and settle her in with things she likes. Also sometimes they will give it a big performance crying as you leave and the second you are gone they are fine and playing. Also it usually is very hard to settle when they only go one day a week

My little girl is the same and also goes once a week. No one said about going two days until I started, I only put her down for one as only need childcare for one day. She hated her settling in sessions cried the whole time so I was so worried about leaving her all day. Since she’s been going she’s getting better slowly. They’ve updated me with smiling pictures. Shes been eating well and napping well. She’s only been there 2 weeks, says she has her upset moments. But we just have to give it time. They’ll get there and settle eventually. Just hard, and didn’t help how I felt when people said about should have done more days when I didn’t know.

My son was the same and he is doing 3 days a week. Took him about 6 weeks to settle in. It will take longer if she’s only doing one day but when they do finally settle it’s such a relief and now i enjoy my work days. When he first started I was sick with worry I couldn’t eat anything.

Thanks for all the replies! I did worry about having one day, but we can't afford anymore unfortunately and we luckily have help from grandparents. In an ideal world though I would prefer her to have more days. The updates from today seem a little more positive so fingers crossed she will manage to settle with the limited hours she has!
