Self soothing?

Is it possible for baby to self soothe without dummy and without letting them cry or not being responsive? I want my baby to fall asleep by himself but I’m not ready to let him cry to sleep or not respond when he’s crying I find that so sad

We have been working on this the last couple of weeks, and over time she has learnt to settle without her dummy. She often chats herself to sleep now which is so cute.
If she is grumbling or moaning I usually leave her a minute or 2, then go back in and reassure/resettle but if she starts crying I will go in a pick her up until she calms and then try again. Often the 2nd time of putting her down she'll then settle herself really quickly x

I mean if your baby is used to something to help them fall asleep and you take that away, I highly suspect some upset will happen. The situation is new and they aren’t quite sure what to do without said thing that has been taken away (ie dummy, rocking, feeding to sleep) etc. Depending how old your baby is will also depend how much they may protest the change. You can for sure teach him to fall asleep by himself but it won’t be an instant acceptance from him unless you take things soooo slowly. Ie, place down and if he cries pick him up. And repeat. But that can actually cause more upset depending on the age as well. Crying is a normal response to change, and you can support him through that. You don’t have to close the door and walk away.

He stoped having the dummy a month ago so he’s not used the dummy anymore, just thought I’d put that in the caption as some might suggest to give the dummy, should’ve probably explained better

Yeah that’s true with the crying being a normal response! Is it not gonna upset baby more if I pick up when crying then put straight down when stop crying he’ll cry even more?

In all honesty, yep, more than likely depending on the age. How old? Pick up put down usually is best for babies under 3 months. Some space is usually what older kiddos need.

He’s 4 months now, there’s no rush to sleep train tbh but I know it might get more difficult as he gets older

Antibiotics and breast milk.

Has anyone taken antibiotics and noticed that it has affected their breast milk? I have been on antibiotics for a week (4 a day) and every time my baby has breast milk she is immediately sick afterwards and cranky. (This was never an issue before being on antibiotics), so I have been pumping and pouring away my milk (which is soul destroying) until I finish the tablets. She has been having formula instead and isn’t being sick with that at all and seems much more settled.

Travel pram

Has anyone used any of these prams? I want to make sure the seat sits upright fully and isn’t really flimsy that my son could fall out but I know these are cheaper prams as I can’t afford a lot so keep looking on marketplace etc

AITA

So my due date is in 10 days but obvs we don’t know when the baby will actually come. Anyway, my SIL is also pregnant (after 10 years of infertility) and I am so happy for her when I found out because the doctors had said they may never conceive. So she has her gender reveal on the 26th of April (which would be almost 2 weeks after due date) in either case I wouldn’t feel comfortable attending while newly postpartum and with a newborn baby where there will be lots of people I don’t even know, I said to my husband he should go just with my daughter, which he agreed but mentioned she might feel a certain way. I mean she needs to sort of be understandable, I just don’t want to put my baby at risk, and after I gave birth last time I made myself very unwell thinking I’m okay to go out and about earlier than I should. On top of this, she shouldn’t feel a certain way because in our culture it is crucial for the mum and baby to not leave the house for 40 days, and she knows this. Anyway I don’t think I’m being an Asshole, I just don’t want to put my baby at risk and especially because people from my country don’t know boundaries when it comes to babies (kissing them, holding them, passing them around)

Formulas

My little girl is 3 weeks old and is on formula and has been since 2 days old due to some really awful issues with BF. Shes been on aptamil the whole time but we seem to be suffering with constipation and going 2-3 days and it’s causing discomfort. I spoke to GP and he’s advised to change formula.. just interested to see people’s views on Kendamil and how it suited your babies? And if you recommend it?
