Dogs & Breast milk

Obviously, dogs can't eat breast milk from humans. However would dogs benefit from the use of it on their skin? Edit: I appreciate everyone's comments but I think there is some confusion! I'm not wanting to actually feed my dog my breast milk. Human breast milk is high in lactose which will make dogs sick. I'm meaning like putting it in his bath water. Sometimes he has small raw spots from his allergies. He's on allergy meds but once and a while, depending on the season, he has a small flare up here and there. I was mainly curious if the milk would help heal his paws from when he's licking them! I hope this helps to clarify!

I’m no expert but I would guess if humans can drink cows milk puppies would be ok on human breast milk. I think I seen in India some women have and do from time to time breastfeed some orphan animals and I think other species do that too on occasion. But skin wise it might help a dog depending what their ailment was? 🤷🏽‍♀️ I would be surprised if it would cause harm.

I spilled breast milk and my dog cleaned (licked) it up off the floor for me lol, he seemed fine.

You can you use as a “conditioner” milk bath…not really thoroughly researched but…some say has antifungal properties.

No. It’s not useful to dogs in anyway. And can even be dangerous for them to drink regularly

@Ciera and I said it’s not useful for the dog in ANYWAY. I was just saying the drinking part for anyone who may be interested in knowing lol

Yea definitely don’t give to your dog. Stay away from dairy in general in your dog’s diet. A lot of dog breeds have lactose intolerance issues. Google says don’t put on their skin either. Does your dog have skin issues? My dorky gets red, itchy, hot inflamed skin every August and loses all her hair on her lower back and butt from chewing and scratching. Allergy pills kinda helped but made her stomach upset. Finally found using 1:1 apple cider vinegar and water in a spray bottle cured her skin completely! I only sprayed her twice, a week a part, last month and she hasn’t had any issues since. Apparently ACV kills any fungus or bacteria that might be causing the skin issues.

@Alexus I said drink but I was referring to unweaned orphan baby animals in general and a practice I had seen women in India doing in a documentary…it really just depends on her dogs specific situation but honestly in most situations it would be unlikely to help more than something over the counter or prescribed by a vet.

@Caroline exactly I was thinking if it’s yeast it would make it way way worse 🤢

@Ashley (Momo) Will definitely look into this! Would regular distilled vinegar work or would it have to be apple cider?

@Mequell I’m not sure! I just used ACV straight from the bottle!
