What are some good ways to get 5 year old to stop putting things in their mouth? I'm ready to start popping their mouth or hand 🙄.

If there’s something in particular they like to chew on put like a little dab of hot sauce or like tooth paste on it before they get it, nothing that will hurt them but hopefully defer them from wanting it in their mouth lol
there not babies
anything really. There not a baby and know not to put stuff in their mouth. We have to remind them all day

No one ever randomly stopped putting stuff in their mouths one day, they were guided & taught new ways to interact with objects other than immediately putting it in our mouths!
Unfortunately it’s just a lot of just paying attention, correction & redirecting / teaching or reminding of the ways we interact with objects other than it going in our mouths
Frozen wash clothes are helpful for chewy teethers but Amazon also has some solid silicone teether options if you need something similar in texture to human skin LOL

My daughter spits into her hand, collects a whooooole bunch, and then rubs it places 😭 Her face, the couch, the walls…
I think the only thing we can do is continue to enforce positive behavior, redirect, and say “no”
I’m losing my mind but hoping it’s a phase!! Nobody does this crap forever…right?? 🤞🏼

Look for ‘oral fixation/sensory chew toys’

This is normal!!! If they’re doing it CONSTANTLY you may want to contact your pediatrician. It also depends on what they’re chewing too. I’m guessing you want to stop it before school. My advice would be contact the pediatrician to see if they’re lacking on anything. If not, enforce that they can not do that. If that doesn’t work have something they CAN chew on instead

There are necklaces that look like silicone Lego on a string for kids that always need to chew on something. Also, 5 is old enough for chewing gum if you trust them not to swallow it. They would probably enjoy learning to blow bubbles. 😀🍬
