Guilt from arguments

Has anyone else had loud angry arguments with your partners. I am feeling so guilty and stressed that it will negatively affect the baby. It’s not just one off. We’ve had a few now. Will this affect the baby’s mental health please? I feel so bad that I can’t control my emotions better

It’s not healthy for the baby in long term if it happens constantly. But don’t feel guilty because the first step is to realise it isn’t supposed to be like that, and that baby deserves and needs a healthy environment for their growth and development. You’ve already came to that conclusion so well done. Have you tried speaking with ur partner once things have cooled down a bit? And perhaps try and find ways of not letting things escalate to the point of arguing/shouting in front of the baby? I obviously don’t know all the details but have you thought about couple therapy?

Also, could you be dealing with PP rage or anxiety? Not sure how many months pp you are but I suppose your hormones are still all over the place. Try to have a convo with ur partner and explain how u feel. come to an agreement that when both of you feel like things are going to escalate, maybe leave it and try to talk after you’ve had a breather.

@Bruna thank you. It’s really hard as we talk about it and try really hard but when we disagree we both get very emotional and trigger each other. Do you think the baby can hear it very clearly in the womb? I am 34w.

Don’t feel too bad, you can’t undo past moments but you can improve moving forward! We had a couple loud arguments over the summer and I felt similarly, so guilty for exposing baby to that. They do feel our emotions and yeah by 34w they can def hear it too. In fact, a study showed that with a tiny microphone in the womb, researchers could interpret 50% of the specific words spoken by a man, and 30% of those spoken by a woman! The exception is our own voices, which are the most amplified and easy for baby to make out. I’ve been watching my language more since learning that 😅
