Hi everyone, my 6 month old was fed honey by his grandparents (obviously behind my back). What do I do? I know babies can’t have it under 1 so I’m trying not to freak out. Share some reassurance in any way please 😢

My mum told me I used to dip my dummy in honey from 6 months old. I'd do it most days and would have it in porridge etc. So I think your baby should be fine! Just keep an eye on them, the rule on honey before 1 hasn't been around for long I don't think so to his grandparents, they probably don't see how it is a bad thing x

He’ll be fine. The NHS are actually thinking of changing their guidance about it due to the pretty much impossible chance that infant botulism would be caused by UK honey. You’d be more likely to get it from chicken 🙂

He'll be fine. Infant botulism is really really rare and baby is not likely to get it especially with store brought honey in the UK or US. Its really just a precaution.
Thank you everyone. You’ve reassured me xxx

I also believe your LO is going to be fine nowadays food is so processed that I doubt any bacteria or anything survives there.

Botulism is very fatal. If there were any bacteria in it you would have already know. Your baby is ok
