Elective C-section…

If you have had an elective C-section how many weeks were you? I am due with my second baby 10/01/2025 and just wondering if I do have a C-section what date it may be on 😅

Week 38 for both.

I was booked for week 39 with baby 1 but she broke out 10 days early, so we’ve just booked straight in for 38 this time. No chances taken 😂

I’m due 6th Jan and baby is coming out 28th Dec

38 weeks but I went into labor at 37 and 4 days luckily they still allowed me to get a C-section 😁

I was due March 28th and that’s what they set the date for

Our little girl was born by elective C-section yesterday at 39 weeks +5 so almost on her due date.

Avatar

were you able to choose? I obviously don’t want to have my son early but I know once you get to 38 weeks then you’re basically in the all clear x

Avatar

usually you get some dates to choose but due to the timing of week 38/39 for me being Christmas/NYE it’s down to staffing availability over the bank holidays this time.

I don’t want to try for week 39 again cause last time it ended up with me in labour before my section.

She was born at 38 though no issues 😊

Avatar

yes timing isn’t great… my daughters birthday is also the 5th of January so any day but that and I’m happy 😅 I will be 38 weeks on the 27th of December so will have to wait and see what options I have x

Avatar

I was due 6th Jan and got booked 29th December

They won’t let you before week 39 unless there’s problems. We asked for our section before new year! X

Avatar

It’s usually week 39+ unless there are risks.

Avatar

Generally it’s in the 39th week unless there’s a medical reason you may need it earlier.

Thanks everyone!

I’m booked for ECS on 26th October I’ll be 41weeks. But this is as I want to try for a VBAC. Elective c/sections that aren’t for medical reasons are usually booked for 39-40 weeks x

Avatar

hopefully you’ll be able to have a VBAC 🤞🏼 I had a 3rd degree tear with my daughter and an all round rubbish experience at our local hospital - some with the same experience are offered a C-section but I haven’t been so that’s why I’ve been thinking about it x

Avatar

I was booked for 39+5 but waters broke at 39. I was still able to have a c-section but they considered it an "emergency". My hospital would only allow me to schedule it for 39wks earliest, but due to bank holiday I was scheduled later than 39. All worked out in the end haha

Avatar

I went 4 days over with my daughter but I know there’s no real reason behind babies coming early/late so I’ll have to wait and see 😅

Week 38 due to baby’s size. X

Induction?

Anyone been induced before? Was it more painful? Better than thought? Worse than thought? Worth it? Thoughts?

Induction or c section?

As a last resort, would you rather be induced or have a planned c section?

Really not liking the thought of being induced from people’s experiences I’ve read!

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Homebirth?

I am thinking I want a homebirth (second baby) for a few different reasons but my husband is very against it, he is worried about things going wrong and we are a 30 minute drive from the hospital. Has anyone been in a similar position and what did you end up doing? Any advice? 🙏
