Our boy is 4 months old now. His sleep pattern has changed. He was only waking up once a night now he’s waking up 4-7 times. My question is, how long does this last? What did you guys do?

Is he hungry? My 3 month old started waking up throughout the night and just couldn’t settle, she now receives 2 scoops of cereal in her bedtime 8oz bottle and I haven’t had a problem—it’s only been 2 nights.
Or teething?

hi! Yes he is hungry every 2-3 hours through the night waking up to drink 4oz-5.5oz. Pretty sure it’s another growth spurt I was just wondering how long it lasted for other parents 😭 I’m still afraid to introduce rice cereal into his bottles but if this continues for over two weeks I’ll try it. Thank you.

I’ve been going through the 4 month sleep regression as well. It’s ROUGH. It’s been 2 weeks for us and I think it seems to be getting better. For two weeks he was waking up at 11, 2, 4, 6, and 7 😭 the past two nights he has only woken up at 1:30 and 4:30 which is closer to how he was before the regression. Hoping it stays this way for us! If you’re a reader, I’ve been reading Precious Little Sleep and it has good sleep tips that we’ve tried. The main thing we changed is trying to move his last feeding earlier in his bedtime routine so he is falling asleep more independently instead of associating sleep with eating.

Hi! Also hitting the 4 month regression. My girl was sleeping through the night. Now she’s up at 10, 12, 2, 4, and 7. It’s been rough but little by little she’s starting to stretch out her sleep again

the 4 month sleep regression is a permanent change in baby’s circadian rhythm as it becomes more like an adults. It’s really all over the place as to how long it lasts; truly all babies are just different.
Unfortunately putting anything in a bottle other than milk is a choking hazard and no longer advised. It’s also a myth that it makes babies sleep longer.
You could try a dream feed before you go to sleep to see if that helps. If you have a partner you can try doing shifts so you get a bigger chunk of sleep. I know it’s so hard but everything is a phase.
