Unsettled baby

My baby boy Harley was born on the 17th October šŸ¤ he has been a dream baby to look after, every few hours I would feed burp, change him and he would then sleep in his basket with no issues. However for the past few days, he seems really unsettled and not happy. He will do at least one stint a day for 3-5 hours where he doesn’t sleep, doesn’t settle and cries. We’ve tried burping him , feeding him (sometimes 3 times in one stint) changing him, cuddling him etc. but nothing seems to work. We did try a dummy which he seemed to like but evey time it fell out, he would cry again so we decided against.

Has anyone else been experiencing this or experienced this? Is this just normal now he’s finding his voice and aware of his surroundings? Or could it potentially be colic/ silent reflux? Should I be doing more in his wake windows?

Any comments would be appreciated! I am getting anxious something is wrong or I am doing something wrong.

This is very common and could peak at around 6 weeks. Our baby is 4 weeks and at around two weeks he suddenly seemed more unsettled and we did everything you did. Mentioned it to the midwife who said it was perfectly normal. I thought it was colic as well but he wasn't crying for hours at a time. We are being quite proactive though in helping him wind and I found the ILU method on YouTube helpful. There are some other ones I've found helpful as well. We still have days like this but it's not constant. All babies are different but I find it also helps to give our baby loads of cuddles and contact naps xx

Have you tried holding him on his tummy on your arm and wriggling his bum? My first little boy was like this and it was trapped wind so when we gave his belly a bit of space it seemed to help loads! I’m sure there’s videos online of midwives showing you how to do it :) my little girl is only 2 weeks old and hasn’t started this yet…hoping it stays this way! Xx

Great advice. Literally watched a video about this earlier today on my breastfeeding course how to burp a baby and this was one of the positions to ease trapped wind 🄰🄰

My baby girl was born on 14th and is doing exactly the same!

There's a few posts about cluster feeding at this age. It doesn't help change the neediness but might explain it. I'm seeing my midwife today so definitely going to ask!

let me know what she says! I’ll also be mentioning to my midwife but glad others are experiencing this so seems completely normal xx

My boy was born on the 15th and we just started experiencing this too. It was yesterday evening for hours and now today he’s not slept since 11.30am. Just hanging off the boob and screams of he isn’t šŸ˜…

I found around day 14 baby was super unsettled and cluster fed and didn't sleep unless on me. HV said that's the first growth spurt so might be why for yours too. Lots of steps around my house across these days xx

Heyy my baby is 2 weeks and I was actually pre warned by a midwife when I left hospital that around 2 weeks there’s a growth spurt and they become unsettled or cluster feed for a couple days, she told me I might feel like I’m doing something wrong or not producing enough milk but that it’ll be fine!
And that’s exactly what I’m experiencing! I’ve been up every single hour last night with her🄲
If you’re ever too worried you can always speak to a clinician but it sounds normal to me!

@Sam growth spurt like everyone's saying. Said they should put back on at least the weight they lose from birth within 4 weeks, so it's probably part of that.
Perfectly normal to happen just a long slog for us...

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

Car seat crying

My 6 month old PANICS the second I put him in a car seat and screams, cries, chokes and recently even projectile vomited on a 14 minute drive. It’s gotten to the point I don’t even bring him out unless it’s to a doctors appointment. I’m a stay at home mom with no family in my state and it has been very isolating. We’ve tried 3 different car seats with no improvement. Has anyone had a baby who hated the car seat? Any advice? This started at 3 months. I will add it does seem worse when he’s tired. He does cry on every trip though. He only contact naps and co sleeps so he reaches for me and will not sleep in the car seat.

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.

When did you circumcise your baby?
If you DID NOT or DO NOT have a circumcised son DO NOT comment this post is not for you!

Did you wait a certain amount of time or have it done immediately?
Again respectfully, this is only for the parents who choose to do so.
opinions about how not necessary it is will not be appropriate for this post. Thank you in advance. 🩵
