Lots and lots of nipple cream. If you can afford it get the lanolin one because it's so much better than cheaper brands I think. Also when baby latches make sure they are getting a deep latch. It does get better. I'm breastfeeding my third. But even for me the first week or so was sooooo painful. Now it's near enough painless and my daughter is 3 weeks old.
I have the lanolin nipple cream. How often should I use it?
Also, he always has almost all the dark side of the boobs in his mouth when he latches. Is that deep enough?

Lanolin cream after every feed and I also use the silver nipple cups which seem to be helping. This is my 2nd time round bfeeding and forgot about the sore nipples in the beginning 🤪

Silverettes - an investment at first but honestly the best thing for sore nipples early on!
Oh thank you! I will get the silver nipple cups as well and use the lanolin after every feed x

Same issue here and I use the medela purelane cream. I will also try some warm compress over my boobs here and there to ease the hardness too as they can get hard and having to deal with both 😢but I’m hanging in there it will get better for all of us🤞

I wore the silver nipple cups all day everyday for the first week and they seemed to really help!

I used the silicone nipple shields…only needed them for a few days and seemed to help her with her latch and gave my nipples a well deserved break!
I have one of these already on order. Will be delivered today. Others have recommended the silver cups.

I used both along with the Lanolin cream…I’d have done anything to help with the pain in them first 3/5 days 🥴 but it really does get easier I’m almost three weeks in and coming out the other side lol
I just put the silicone nipple shields on to feed my LO and he tried to latch a few times.
Next thing I heard was the tantrum of all tantrums. He wasn't having it. I had to take it off and plead with him to calm down before taking off the shield to feed.
So, no to the shield lol x

Both this and last prenancy I used the lansinoh cream and Multi Mam sore nipple compresses (from Amazon) to help soothe cracked nipples. For the first few days I also rarely wore bras and tried to have nothing touching my nipples as even clothes would cause me pain. Breastfeeding is unfortunately usualy painful at the beginning but the pain could also be due to baby not latching deep enough. It's worth seeing if your hospital/area has some breastfeeding support that can check your baby's latch. If not, the Breastfeeding and Lactation Support UK group on Facebook has been a godsend for me as they have loads of info on breastfeeding and guides on latching. They also do latch checks if you write to their inbox!

Aw no 😫 silver cups and cream to the rescue🤞🏻…I know it can be difficult for some babies to adjust to the teats…my LG is a truffle pig and will try and get milk anywhere she can lol

Silver nipple cups. They aren't the cheapest but they have saved me. They are amazing. 2 weeks in and my nipples are now not as sore. I haven't used anything other than cups this time round and they are healing so much quicker. The pain was so intense when LO was latching (latch checked and it's all ok, I just have sensitive and easily cracked nipples) but it is getting better!

Got the silver nipple cups too , they are life changing. Big difference in just a day 🙌highly recommend.. got mine of of Amazon for just £20 and they’re just perfect. They’re called boboduck and you don’t have to spend a fortune
