Baby (6 weeks) had oral thrush and doctors told me to use a cream on my nipples as well. I’m not sure if it’s a coincidence but an hour of using it my breasts got soft and “empty”.
I was exclusively breastfeeding with the odd pumping when I was getting too full. Baby was always content and happy until the day I used the miconazole nitrate cream to treat thrush. Baby is getting fussy and angry because no milk is coming out
Has anyone else had this? Has your milk supply come back?
I’m currently power pumping and continuing breastfeeding. I have a small stash stored in the freezer that’s finishing in the next few days, so I will have use formula if I don’t get my supply back.

It sounds like normal behaviour of a 6 week old. It may not be low supply. They go through a growth spurt at this age. Have a look at this article x

Thank you yes, he’s having a growth spurt.
Maybe my boobs are not as full as it used to be because baby didn’t need the extra milk and I didn’t express the leftover either. Big mistake

It’s normal for breasts to feel less full at this stage as your supply regulates. As long as you keep putting him to the breast regularly and he has plenty of wet and dirty nappies, he’ll be getting everything he needs from you x
Thanks i really appreciate it. ♥️ I understand better now. Currently on treatment for thrush and continuing putting baby on the breasts

No problem, happy that I have been able to help a little bit ❤️
