I mostly don't use anything but wa water and after shower I rub a bit of organic coconut oil. Her powder is organic corn or flower starch.
When I do use shampoo which is once or max twice a month it'll be hibiscus infusion or flaxseeds gel with a drop of mustela gentle shampoo.
She's almost 7mo and I've used shampoo twice each time 2 drops and for her body it's natural coconut water or coconut milk (fresh not canned) and rinse with drinkable water.
They really don't need much.
I know my friend uses aquafaba for her son but he's almost a year old.

Out of curiosity, what makes you think it was the baby bath gel? Has the texture of her skin changed or just her skintone? Does her neck match her ears or is the neck the only darker area? My daughter is 9mos but this has been or routine sinceWe use either Johnson & Johnson Baby Bedtime bathgel, Dove Lavendar baby wash, Dr Bronner's baby soap, or my Olay bodywash and a washcloth to wash her body.
After bath, we rinse off In the shower, I shampoo and conditioner her hair then rinse off and get out.
After bath/shower, I use a quarter sized amount of pure coconut oil to moisturize her skin. This has been our process since she was 3weeks old and she loves it. 🎀

Stick to as natural as possible. You can bath the baby with pure water and if u are breast feeding then add some breastmilk to the bath water and if theres any dryness where the dark patch is I would recommend pure shea butter n breastmilk
