Baby girl measuring in the 80th percentile at her 20 week scan, I need some reassurance

We had our anatomy scan and everything is looking great but her abdominal circumference is measuring in the 90th percentile which brings her fetal weight to the 80th percentile. I’m quite petit and skinny and so is her father. I’m just worried if something is wrong.
She was measuring everything else which all fell in 20 weeks but her AC is measuring at 21 weeks and 5 days. They’ve referred me for a gestational diabetes test and the sonographer didn’t seem to concerned.
Has anyone had similar experiences?

I had this last week at my 20 weeks baby boys belly was measuring bigger than rest of his body, I’m the same as you quite small! Had my diabetes test yesterday and came back clear, I think it’s nothing to worry about or else we would have been asked for a re scan? Just means our baby’s like their food 🤣 xx

My little boy was measuring around the 90th/95th centile they measurements are never right on scans😂😂 they said he’d be like 9lb/10 he was born 7lb 12 so nearly bang on average!! Honestly take the measurements as an estimated because I don’t know anyone that’s had a scan and them be correct

glad to hear about your gestational diabetes test! Thank you for your reassurance honestly I’ve been spiralling. Let’s hope they’re just big eaters!

I’ve read so much about this, the measurements being off. Did you not spend the whole pregnancy worrying about how you were going to push him out!??!

I had this with my first, the sonographer at my 20 week scan was like, "he has a big belly, doesn't he?!" 🤣 Also had to have a gestational diabetes check that came back clear. Was also told he was going to be big but was only 7ib 9, but I'm pretty small so I guess for my body he seemed big if that makes sense 😅

I’ve been worrying too and thinking it’s it something that I’ve done wrong! Im glad to know that it’s not just my baby who’s like this, by the sounds of it its fairly normal! Finger crossed our babies come out smaller than expected! When are you due? Xx

Avatar

that’s a great way to put it, maybe cause they’re just a little big and were a bit small it looks bigger i guess?? I’m glad to hear he came out 7lb 💕💕

honestly sitting here regretting every pain au chocolat and sticky toffee pudding I’ve had this pregnancy 😭😭😭😭 I hope my GD test comes back clear or then I’ll really feel like I messed up 🥴 I’m due March 15th! What about you??

Avatar

Hiya! My first baby was like this. I’m 5ft2 and he was measuring big all along so I was consultant led through the end. They were worried I had GD, but I didn’t he was just big😁 a beautiful healthy 9lb baby delivered vaginally totally fine.
Now preg with number 2 and same again big old baby. Hubby is a foot taller than me so we clearly just make big babies !
Don’t worry ! they’ll keep checking you but things will be fine. I’ve got a big tall three year old now on track to be my height by the time he’s 11 🤣❤️

Oh yeah I panicked😂😂😂 when they told me he was 7lb 12 after he was born I was shocked

Honestly all I’ve wanted is sweet things this pregnancy 😂 I’m due the 6th March x

I had the same situation and they’ve booked me for ‘urgent GT’ as baby’s stomach was showing in 95th percentile. Due to baby’s position they couldn’t finish the scan, so I had to come back to finish the scan a few days later. During the second scan I asked the lady to measure baby’s stomach again and it was all within the norms, so she said he probably was bloated/had a full bladder the first time. So take their measurements with a pinch of salt..

Take measurements with a pinch of salt - I had absolutely nothing raised during my first pregnancy and I birthed a 9lb 6oz baby boy…had no idea he was going to be that big as I measured “expected” at every scan and midwife appointment!

Induction?

Anyone been induced before? Was it more painful? Better than thought? Worse than thought? Worth it? Thoughts?

Baby names

My daughter‘s name is valentýna and I’m struggling to find other nice girl and boy names beginning with V I’ve got a few and I’ve got loads that aren’t beginning with V, but I feel like I wanna go for all vs and I also love girl and boys names that match so because my daughter’s name is valentýna I would love to call my son Valentino my husband does not agree 😃

Induction or c section?

As a last resort, would you rather be induced or have a planned c section?

Really not liking the thought of being induced from people’s experiences I’ve read!

Almost 37 weeks + told to do another growth scan

I just had my second to last doctor’s appointment this morning, and my OB told me she wants me to do another growth scan because my belly is measuring small. She says it’s probably just because I’m a smaller woman, but they like to be safe. It’s hard to hear though, since I just did one a couple months ago.

I did this with my firstborn around this time of pregnancy, so I do think I just carry smaller (even though I don’t feel like I look “small” at all). My first baby was 6lbs 15oz when she was born at 41 weeks + 2 days. I’m having this baby at 39 weeks on April 7. I hope she’s still at least 6lbs.

Anyone have any stories similar to this?
