Diaper/pad after c section

Before my c section last week they ask you to take everything off, put on a gown, put in a catheter, the latter with the spinal block already in. Following the section they put a pad down there, but not with any underwear. Later on, when the block had worn off and I was helped to stand up, I took off the pad and they changed the bed linen as I had bled through things. Then I put on disposable underwear I had brought myself, though the hospital offered pads too.

I was awake and had a gown they did the spinal tap then helped me lay down and put the catheter in. I only had to use a pad for about a week after the c section I completely stopped bleeding.

In theatre you are wearing mesh knickers they provide and the gown, that’s it.

So after surgery you are in a recovery bed with a pad on your bed and some mesh knickers holding your catheter in. You can’t feel any of this but you’ll get checked a few times for bleeding. They will deal with all that until you are walking, you won’t really even notice.

Once up and walking you’ll get a shower and then dress. I just wore big baggy knickers and a postpartum pad. I never wore any nappies. Wore pads for a week then my usual period knickers for the next week as I was only spotting.

later on the nurse checked my scar, bleeding and changed the pad. Still no underwear.

When the block had worn off the nurse changed my pad and as above changed the bed linen as I had bled through, i was laying on a disposable mat also.

When i was helped to the toilets i put on disposable underwear I had brought myself and hospital provided maternity pads.

i also packed some disposable knickers for incontinence (the aldi brand) and i wore them to go home, no problems with bleeding though.

I went to theatre with no underwear, and then was led on pads in recovery and on the ward until I was able to move and put underwear and a pad on myself. The midwives check the bleeding for you until then so no need to do anything.

You take everything off and wear a gown. So no point wearing something before hand
. They sorted out any pads afterwards.

I’m in the US. I believe I had a pad under me on the bed right after surgery. I spent 2 hrs in recovery. They got me in my mesh panties with a pad before they moved me to my room.
