Last minute disappointment

I really don’t know how to feel. I have a planned C-section tomorrow morning and all the while the arrangement was to have my MIL and husband to be around. It’s our first baby and I am an orphan my siblings are all abroad. It will be very expensive and difficult for them to come over because of visa processing and all that.

My MIL agreed to come to the hospital to help out where necessary. My husband explained to her how much he wants her to be there and she agreed to come.

Just this evening we asked her when she would be arriving and she called to say she can’t come and she sorry to disappoint us that she needs to be at work so she can meet up with her bills….. she said she was baby sitting and has will call back but hasn’t called till now.

We are both disappointed because apparently if we had not asked she probably would not have mentioned. We understand she needs the money but it’s an amount we could have raised for her or she could have said ontime.

note; this is not the first or second or even third time my inlaws have disappointed us when we need help but i didn’t see it coming from her. I just feel low about it and not sure how to react to it.

We have this with family as well, we don’t ask for much but people always let us down at a time of need. You’ll get through it you and your husband. Good luck and just take each day as it comes xx

I think this shows just how little she cares. Such a big milestone in her son’s life and such a lack of compassion and communication. I wouldn’t stress about it. Her loss, don’t rush to let her meet the baby. This is our second with our first it was just me and my partner (our choice) during induction and emergency C-section and we both coped fine. We didnt have any visitors until we were home and settled. This time round (planned C-section) it’s just us again. It’s a lovely time just you and your new addition to your perfect little family. If you need support midwives are there they’re great support for the dads too.

Tomorrow is going to be the best day of your life, mummy.

Everything changes tomorrow and it’s so special. We were alone for our first baby (section too) and tbh whilst we were sad family were overseas it was magic. It’s the moment you two really become a little family and just make sure you’ve got the camera rolling and tissues.

At the end of the day, she’s missing out and it’s very careless of her not to bother to call ahead. If she wanted to be there, she’d be there. So focus on you three, you, hubby and baby.

Make sure your siblings are ready for that time zone FaceTime call too xx

Thank you Sarah this was really reassuring.

Baby is here and I am really happy everything went smoothly. My husband stepped up more than i expected and has been taking care of us.
MIL could not come see us until Saturday as she had to work. When we got back from the hospital my husband called again for her to help watch us while he goes shopping and she said she couldn’t.
I have told him to accept the reality of things with his family and focus getting help elsewhere.
