Hi there, my little girl is 2 years old and 8 months and she just started going nursery last week 3 half days afternoons.
I've always changed her nappies and cleaned her down there and till now she never had a nappy rash or soreness in her privates.
When I wipe her after peeing I use unscented water only wipes as she doesn't tolerate others with perfumes etc and I clean mostly just the outsides and gently twice inside so as not to hurt her.
Now that she started nursery and she is still using nappies they have to clean her. All the three times I picked her up ill see in the bag they changed her once as one nappy will be missing. I give them in her backpack the wipes I've always used and nappies as they don't have size 8 there.
My issue now is that she is red down there and she won't let me wipe her as it seems to be painful for her. When I try spreading her parts to see her insides she will start screaming as it's painful and I can see a bit of white in the top and she would say sorry.
I'm a bit worried and concerned that they may be wiping her down there a bit too harsh or strong and now it's made her red and sore? When I look at the wipes pack I can see a lot of wipes have been used for one change.
I don't know if it's the staff or something else or how to approach this. It just seems sore when I try to wipe her now and she'll get stiff. Could it be maybe they wiped back to front at some point and now it's red and painful?
Any advice would be appreciated xx

I would bring it up with them

Ask them how they're changing her and let them know she's got a rash

Definitely say something to them, just ask exactly what they do and explain she’s sore to the point she won’t even let you wipe her. For the time being try using some cream and see if it helps in any way until you can speak to them, if nothing goes away take her straight to the doctors to see what they say

Where you say ‘it’s painful and I can see a bit of white in the top’ do you mean on her privates? I would check she doesn’t have thrush if that’s the case

I would just bring it up with them :). It's also worth considering if it is the wipes or the gloves they use. They will be so used to conversations like this so don't worry. X

I used to work in a nursery and these conversations are normal! Definitely bring it up, don’t ever shy away from mentioning anything about your daughter her safety is in their hands and they need to provide the best care. Let them know exactly how she should be changed because common sense isn’t that common sometimes for other people. And tell them to apply lots of nappy cream every hour! The soreness will definitely go

Take her to the doctor?
