Hey! Genetics student here! Pectus excavatum is the most common chest wall deformity that people are born with. Many people are unaffected by it, especially if it's not a result of another condition. Sometimes it can be a result of connective tissue diseases like Marfan syndrome or EDS, so your son's doctor will likely keep an eye out for any other symptoms. My friend has it and has never had any problems, nor does he have any other health conditions related to it.
