Newborn caught RSV from family🤦🏽♀️. She is 4 weeks old. Has anyone else dealt with this? Google is sending me into a spiral. Would love to hear personal experiences.

I’m a ece iv seen rvs many times however my 16 months old caught is last month it wasn’t terrible but also all the cases I have seen personally were also mild tbh I didn’t even realized she had it until I heard one specific cry and was like get in the car to the dr we go… I wouldn’t panic I would just be mindful and watch breathing carefully it can go south really fast ( not trying to scare you) but letting you know that you really have to pay attention and quick response to any odd breathing or chest rises it helpful

Hey mama ! first off , I know how scary it is and I’m praying for a speedy recovery for your little one. my son had it when he was 2 months. Also, stay off of Google! It will have you losing your mind.
Keep LO hydrated ! It’s easy for them to become dehydrated being sick , so giving fluids every 2-3 hours is sufficient. (Even if you have to wake to feed) You want to make sure that they’re still making at least 4 wet diapers and producing tears so they aren’t dehydrated.
We suctioned his nose with saline spray (I like Zarbees Nasal spray with Aloe) and the Frida Snotsucker. We did this every 2-3 hours before feeds to help to remove that mucus that was building in his nose. Running a cool mist humidifier 24/7 and steam showers with the “C” method. Using a rub (Zarbees Eucalyptus rub worked really well for us ) on their back, neck, and feet.
When LO is sleeping , keep them elevated because they will be draining mucus and fluids & you don’t want them to choke.

Make sure to keep an eye out for nasal flaring, tracheal tugs, belly breathing. These are signs that baby is struggling to get oxygen , so take them to ER immediately! The ER may give them Albuterol as a form to clear up mucus. Be sure to follow up with Ped to get a prescription for Albutrol if necessary! This also helped my LO recover. I hope this helps , speedy recovery to little baby 🩷
