Help, I've taken vitamin A for 20 weeks of pregnancy!

I'm stressing really badly! I asked my partner to get me pregnancy vitamins when I found out I was around 6-7 weeks pregnant and I've been taking them every night since. I'm now 20 weeks + 5 days and have just found out that you shouldn't take vitamin A supplements when pregnant as it can cause deformities. The ones I've been taken have 800ug of vitamin A in them so I'm panicking like hell!! The 20 week scan showed everything was okay, but I read online it can cause blindness in the baby đŸ˜«đŸ˜«đŸ˜« has anyone else done this or have any advice on this????

Prenatal have vitamin A
Recommended dosage is 8000iu
If you eat a lot of carrots, sweet potatoes, red peppers, spinach, mangoes, (among others can't remember off the top of my head) you don't need additional supplements.

The one food I know you should not eat while pregnant is liver because it is very high is vitamin A

Vitamin A is also called retinol, so if you have a lot of food that is fortified with retinol, you could be over the daily limit

Surely if they’re pregnant vitamins they should be safe to take? They can’t sell them if they were dangerously high in vitamins that you shouldn’t take. What ones are you taking?

Try not to panic the 20 week scan would have picked something up x

Don’t panic yet. Everything will be alright but you can stop taking the vit A. But baby will definitely be alright

Food scientist here. Please chill and try to breathe. Do you mean to say you are taking extra vitamin A on top of your usual prenatal vitamins? If so, please don't unless prescribed by a doctor, there's no need! Your prenatals will cover your needs.

If you mean to say it's your prenatals that contain vitamin A, this is just a failsafe. Pregnancy vitamins are obviously safe to take during pregnancy. Single ingredient doses on top of that are not necessary.

Vitamins A, D, E, and K are fat soluble and they don't get excreted easily, they accumulate in your system. This is why typically we want to be careful of taking too much in high doses. However, you would have to be taking a supremely high dose over a long period of time to cause problems for yourself or your baby. Especially while you are pregnant and gaining weight, you are putting on fat, and excess vitamins will accumulate in your extra fat tissue.

Please don't stress! You and baby will be just fine.

Go to A&E. They can do a scan. They see pregnant women at anytime if she feels herself and baby are not doing well or for even the littlest reason. Just get yourself checked.

Thank you so much everyone! Really appreciate your help, I've got an appointment with my midwife tomorrow morning so will run it past her xx

it wouldn’t be A&E.. after 18 weeks you can go to maternity for anything. They will scan her there

If your partner got a prostitute pregnant and then abandoned the child/ran away, what would be your response? Read

So you were not in a relationship at the time or were about to be in a relationship, he gets the prostitute pregnant.
It’s her fault for not taking their morning after pill.
He tells her straight up that he’s not going to be involved and that she should terminate it.
She says that she won’t terminate and she hopes that he does stick around

So she deliberately gets pregnant, basically traps him

What would be your reaction?
he’s response is:
“She trapped me and it’s her fault for not taking the pill”

STD rates and body count

Saw an interesting video and I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts on this topic!

So std rates are at an all time high as we all know. Do you think the mindset that body count doesn’t matter has contributed to the significant increase of STDs and HIV?

Secondly if someone says that body count doesn’t matter do you believe they are less likely to practice safe sex compared to people who believe in more traditional values?

I can’t put all the combinations in the poll so feel free to comment just yes/no answers

(If you’re going to reply please keep your responses respectful and polite.)
