Hey guys so I'm 4weeks pp and I'm breastfeeding and bottle feeding, my breast milk I pump has slowed down a lot, I've tried different pumps I have another one coming in the mail soon, and it hurts when my baby latches on to the point I want to stop completely and just formula feed him. This is my first time breastfeeding and I've tried lactation cookies and lactation chocolate milk. Any tips or tricks to help me make more? Please and thank you

I used nipple shields while breastfeeding, they’re little silicone mega nips that you wear while breastfeeding and that gave me a little respite in the pain. Equally a painful latch could be a latch issue if he has problems getting a good latch or play with positioning, you never know a different position might be a little more comfy! You’re probably slowing down in production if you’re supplementing feeds with formula, babies cluster feed up to 6 weeks or something I think to establish your supply so it’ll seem like they’re on the boob constantly

Whatever choice you make, choose what is best for you, baby will thrive regardless ❤️

thank you so much I'll try the nipple shield and see if that helps

I hope it works. Nipple balm too for afterwards to give the girls some healing 🤗

Sometimes combi feeding does slow down the production of breast milk but also using breast pumps and getting breast milk isn’t a true sense of what you’re producing. You’ll always get less pumping then actually breastfeeding xx

so if I don't pump my son will still be getting enough breast milk?

yeah, you’ll know if he’s not getting enough by the way he’ll react. When he’s on the boob do you time your feeds and stop on your command or do you stop when he stops?

I stop when he stops and he unlatches

unless it hurts to much I'll stop on my Comand to switch

If it hurts when baby latches it could be that not enough milk is draining from the breast which will over time reduce supply. I would get the latch looked at by a professional ASAP. In the meantime also highly recommend a hospital grade pump, and pumping at least 8x a day for around 3 days and see if that improves supply. You got this! I was at the same place too and it does get better :)
