Has anybody got any tips please?
I have a 2 and a half year old and a 6 week old. The past 2 weeks, my toddler has become very clingy with me and gets upset everytime I feed or need to do something with the baby She's always been happy going to nursery or doing things away from me but now she won't leave my side, getting her to nursery has become a battle (she only goes 2 days a week)...even nursery have flagged that she's struggling with having a new addition in the family!
I spend time with her one on one, i'm pumping so hubby can help with babies feeds, im getting her involved in helping me care for her sister.
She's either upset and clingy or just difficult and everything is 'no'. I'm just at a loss with what i can do to help her. Does it become easier? 🙈 Meanwhile, I feel like apart from feeding, I spend no time with my newborn to spare my toddlers feelings. So then I feel guilty about that as well!! 😥

definitely healthy part of her development :( try to get a gift ‘from the baby’ to change her association to the baby.
i know not everything may work but hang in there, she will eventually get back to herself xx

It feels like I wrote this post myself. I am in the exact same boat and I feel so guilty that I am spending very little time with the baby!
My research: Experts observe that the intense clinginess and sibling jealousy are short-lived for most toddlers. In a research study, older siblings showed a spike in behavior changes (like acting out or seeking attention) about 1 month after the baby’s birth, but those behaviors typically subsided back to normal by around 4 months later . Many parents likewise report that the first few weeks to 2–3 months are the hardest, and then their toddler gradually relaxes and adjusts.
Hang in there!
